  1. Player Name: Cabochard Character Name: Rerun Power Level: 10 (150/150PP) Trade-Offs: None Unspent Power Points: 0 Progress To Bronze Status: 0/30 In Brief: Power Copycat Residence: Claremont Academy Base of Operations: Claremont Academy Catchphrase: “Nice trick, but I think I can do it better!” Identity: Anna Albright Birthplace: Fremont, California Occupation: Student (Sophomore) Affiliations: None. Family: Parents, brother, sister. Description: Age: 16 Apparent Age: Teenager Gender: Female Ethnicity: Caucasian Height: 5'9” Weight: 120lbs. Eyes: Blue Hair: Black A leanly-muscled young woman, standing relatively tall for her age, though she doesn't seem to be growing much anymore. Her hair is usually kept short and out of the way. Power Descriptions: Rerun only has one power, but it comes with plenty of versatility. She can make a copy of other people's powers, so long as she can touch them, her cells changing and reproducing rapidly to allow her to use a new set of powers – so long as they have a blueprint to work off of. History: Neither Anna nor her family has ever been quite sure when or how she first acquired her powers. The event that revealed them to others, however, they're quite sure of. Growing up, Anna had been a bored, depressed child. She made her way through life without finding any real enjoyment in things – not when she could watch TV and see people who's lives were so much more interesting than hers ever could be. This boredom is what drove her to, one day, run off to personally watch a superpowered fight that had somehow spilled over into a neighborhood within running distance of hers. Ignoring commands to stop from the police, she rushed through a barricade, and to the heart of the fight, where she thought she might finally be able to find a thrill. At the center of the small disaster area that was the center of the fight, she found a villain knocking a hero into a building, destroying half of it, and knocking the hero out cold. Working more on instinct than any actual thought process, the girl rushed to try to help the hero, hoping to drag him away or something of the sort. When she grabbed the hero's arm, everything clicked. For just a second, she understood the hero's power - a simple energy projection power - and how his body was designed to work with it. In the next second, her body adjusted to duplicate it, though she could only manage a far weakened version of it. Anna turned and unleashed her power at the villain. She only hit him because he wasn't expecting anything of the sort, but it was enough to at least hurt him. They fought a short, chaotic battle, as she struggled to figure out how to use her powers, and he tried to predict her actions – no easy task when even she wasn't sure what she was doing. The fight ended when a small team of heroes arrived and restrained her opponent. The young girl who'd used emergent powers to defend someone was commended, and returned to her parents with a strict warning not to do anything of the sort ever again, without training. With that warning in mind, Anna spent the next few months looking for a place where she could be trained, and then be allowed to experience the rush of battle once again. After much research, she stumbled across a rumor that Claremont Academy did such, once the powered had reached a certain age. She sent an email to the principal, informing him of her powers and that she would be interested in enrolling a few years later, and received a message telling her that they would consider her admission once she was the right age. Now the right age, having done research into the fields of genetics already, as well as working to learn various martial arts, hoping to improve her power with simple knowledge if not practice, Anna Albright AKA Rerun, is enrolled for her first year in Claremont Academy, on the way to becoming a superhero. As a gift for having received admittance, her parents are not only paying her tuition (of course), but also worked through various channels to acquire a jumpsuit inset with armored plates to keep her even safer.. Personality & Motivation: Anna's powers are well-suited to her personality, naturally. Much like she behaves in a fight, she prefers to attach herself to someone popular or otherwise powerful, socially, and act as a lackey, leeching off of their success to add to her own. When behaving on her own, she often shows deference to any conversational partner, but otherwise often acts bored and uninterested, except in two situations: whenever there is a chance of testing a new power, or getting into a fight with powered individuals, she becomes much more excitable and jumpy. Powers & Tactics: Rerun is only effective so long as she has powers to steal. Because of this, she almost always operates with a group of powered individuals who's powers she can fall back on. Given her ability to change powers on the fly in combat, so long as she can acquire contact, she is extremely versatile and adaptable, and is usually willing to jump into any situation or role, so long as she can be provided with appropriate powers. Complications: Secret Identity: Can't let anybody know who she is! Shhhhh. No Personal Abilities: Being somebody who's only power is to steal the powers of others isn't easy. If she doesn't have access to a hero who's power she can steal, she's largely at the mercy of others. Genetic Mimic: There are many kinds of powers out there – and just as many sources. Her powers come from her cells' ability to redesign themselves and copy someone else's, and they can't replicate a machine. She cannot borrow powers born of devices. 2. Tesseract didn't respond to his taunting, choosing instead to focus. For some reason, she just could not hit anything. Even now, when her hand reached out to bend and warp space, and took aim, her blast went far wide, gouging a hole out of the ground instead of knocking him around, like she'd intended.
  3. Grrrrrrrr ROLLLER. http://orokos.com/roll/303516 / Attack Roll = 13
  4. "Right. Right." She nodded swiftly, following along with him. "At least their baby memories won't remember us from down there, right? Right?" She didn't really leave him the time to confirm, just moving on immediately. "It was...a thing. Thanks, I didn't really do anything. Just, gave him something to focus on." She shrugged. "Anything an illusion could have done, really." After that, she didn't waste any time, at all. Her hand landed on his shoulder, and she stopped moving for a moment, just concentrating on her location. The space warped and bent, and they stepped through it, to find themselves right back where they started the day - the park.
  5. Toughness Test: Pfffff, Soulfire. http://orokos.com/roll/302768 Super-pass! 31 Spatial Assault...not so much: http://orokos.com/roll/302769 12
  6. The Soulfire was going to hit her. It really was. And then, suddenly, it passed through the warped space that made up her 'shield', and came out on the other side, going in completely the wrong direction, and slamming uselessly into the ground. Tesseract didn't waste a moment after that, though. Her hand reached forward, bending space to create a sudden, devastating assault and hit the Sorcerer. Cut off the head, and the body dies, right? Maybe if he was rendered unconscious, his Demons would just disappear back to whatever realm they came from. Or go completely crazy and rampage through the city. Either way, one less enemy to worry about.
  7. "Well then, if we're done..." No need to overstay your welcome, especially when you're not welcome. Of course...did they have to pick up the remaining pieces of the machine? Either way, they didn't have to be in the room with the flailing, angry baby any more, and Tesseract was pretty sure that once he transformed back, Gigante wouldn't be any less angry. And, she didn't have to take them very far. Tesseract didn't do a whole lot of work. Space warped, and she stepped the few feet to where Comrade Frost was with one movement. Then, without spending too much time in that location either, her hand landed on the Comrade's back, and she pulled them up. They stepped back up out of the bent space exactly where they'd started, before she took them down to the basement. She tapped her hands together, letting him adjust back to where he was, and then spoke again. "So...are we going to have to go back down there to collect the pieces?"
  8. Giant baby. It was reeeeally big, seriously. Tesseract wasn't always the best with dimensions and size, but she was about 90% sure that this baby was far, far bigger than it should be. And, usually, when something was bigger, that made it more likely to stand up to a powerful hit. Right? Right. So, no need to hold back. She acknowledged Frost with a nod and a grunt, and then her fingers plucked at the air, as if pulling back a rubber-band water-balloon-launcher, and then she let go. The space directly in front of her compacted as she pulled it back, and then, when she let go, it snapped back forward, aiming to hit Gigante right in the chest!
  9. Spatial Assault and the roll is...12 http://orokos.com/roll/302360 This really isn't her day.
  10. Initiative 15 (http://orokos.com/roll/302225)
  11. Tesseract had always thought that the ability to go anywhere, at anytime, without having to put too much real thought into it, would get her into serious trouble one day. Apparently, that day was today, and it was even more trouble than usual. Maybe she should have thought to scope the place out with her farsight first. Ah, missed opportunities... She didn't really have the time to do anything but stare up at the monster, her mask shifting quite a bit as she spoke, silently. "Ba...ba...ba...uhhh...that's a big baby."
  12. http://orokos.com/roll/302001 = Initiative 6 for Tessie.
  13. She rubbed her hands together nervously while he opened the door, staying mostly quiet. But, when he mentioned moving quickly, she nodded, and her mask bent as the mouth beneath it smiled. Just like before, her powers made it much, much easier to reach places than by foot. Her hand reached out to touch him on the shoulder, and a small laugh made its way out of her throat. "I can do you one better." Tesseract didn't know the best way to get to the basement on foot, so she didn't bother compacting space that way. Instead, she focused downwards. Between every piece of dirt, every concrete block, every drop of cement, there's a microscopic amount of space. To most people, most insects, and most gases, even, that's not enough space to squeeze through. But, to someone for whom the laws of time and space are merely a suggestion, it was more than enough. The space below the two opened suddenly, that minimal distance between molecules suddenly becoming yards wide, and she hopped through, taking Frost with her, if he was willing. A second, just long enough for a breath, and they were in the basement.
  14. Any ordinary day in Freedom City had two things in common: villains, and heroes. One of the heroes of this particular day, entered stage right. Space warped and bent, and Tesseract stepped in through the opening, then let space snap back to its ordinary state. The hero didn't waste any time. Her 'force field' was already active, the telltale warping of space around her making that much obvious to anyone, and she started moving forward towards the man in charge, all while trying to keep a very straight face at his outfit. "Hey! You! What are you doing?!"
  15. "I'll...think about it. Wasn't planning on working outside of the US, but...I suppose, with my powers, I could work anywhere and still live where I felt like it." Tesseract shrugged slightly, following him around to the tower he mentioned, quietly letting him reach his conclusion. When she saw the babies, she froze for a second, a profound frown appearing on her face. "I thought you said it was just cosmetic." She felt...something, for a second, then shook her head. "No, I'm fine. We should probably get the machine shut down, then? Do you know which room it's in? I could get there in a few seconds, assuming it's within a few hundred meters."
  16. 1d20+7=10 Failure! 1d20+7=10, but the roll was less than 10, so add 10, giving 13, so true result isssss 20. Just pass! -1 HP.
  17. Once Frost had taken her hand, Tesseract had begun the bending process. It had taken time, and effort, six seconds to be exact. Frost - now in contact with her - could actually see it as it happened. The air in front of them shimmered and warped, and he watched the entire movement to their destination by foot, though it was much, much faster, over within seconds. Once the space was bent, Tesseract stepped through, pulling Frost with her. The effect was strange. Not because it felt peculiar, but because it didn't. The step felt just like any other step would, as if the spaces were meant to connect, as if Cuba was meant to be in the middle of Freedom City. Moments after they finished the step, Tesseract released the space, and it all returned to just the way it was. She looked around as he spoke, feeling a little apprehensive. The fact that they were in a prison, in Cuba, even if it was no longer a prison, definitely made her feel uncomfortable. The air around her bent and reshaped itself, as she used her power to pop up her defences - a small set of distortions that would move blows around her. As it came up, she looked at Frost. "Not really. I have a little job, that brings in money, right now, but no real big plans." Her shoulders raised in a delicate shrug. "No plans beyond that."
  18. Tesseract cocked her head to the side for a second, frowning at him. Doubts swam through her mind, dragged up by the idea that the other Leaguers were apparently unaware of this stint into Cuba. On the other hand...Frost was a Leaguer. She could trust him. Right? She nodded, rubbing her hands together nervously, in preparation for the jump. It wasn't a hard task for her - she did bigger jumps regularly, when she wanted to have a good croissant in Paris, or check out the Highlands of Scotland. But, she hadn't taken anyone on one, before. "I see...yes, I can help. Just, take my hand, and I can get us there in a few seconds." Her hand stretched out, offered to Frost, and she waited until he grabbed it.
  19. Tesseract nodded as things connected in her mind, during his talk. "Oh, so, it makes people look younger? That seems practical, actually." She shrugged. "And definitely not illegal, nope. I can help. I can probably go there right now, since I know where it is." A second passed, as she thought. "You being caught would still be suspicious though, right? You're just less likely to get caught, alone?" She took another moment to think on what he said next. "Well, I am going to need a new way to get work, besides just patrols, after graduation.." She shrugged. "We'll see how this job goes, right?"
  20. "Yes, it's nice to see you too." She shook his hand somewhat loosely, then when he released it, she shook it in the air a little more to get more feeling back into it, after the cold. She nodded along with his talk, cocking her head a little as he said she was fortunate to have the right powers. However, that was forgotten when he made the joke about it being illegal. Her face dropped a little under the mask for a second, but then rose again as he confirmed it was a joke. She nodded one last time, after he finished. "I suppose I can do that. I just need a good description of the location or...well, where it is on a map would be really helpful. Do you mind if I ask what exactly I'm going to be moving back? Or is that secret League business?"
  21. Tesseract had slipped into her hero-ing costume, putting on the jumpsuit and jacket - she still wasn't sure why she'd stuck with the jacket, but she had to admit it was a pretty solid addition. The jumpsuit alone might have been a little weird. The whole ensemble was made with a camouflage design, to help break up her shape when she flipped up the hiding powers. That was one of her favourite features of it all. Once she was dressed and ready, and she gave a moment of thought to the fact that hiding her identity behind the mask was probably a little pointless, given Frost had known her enough to be able to call her cell. With that semi-depressing thought out of the way, she'd focused, bending space, widening the cracks in the doorway and turning a crooked, several-mile long path into a single step, and she'd taken the step, finding herself in the park in mere seconds. She took the few minutes while she waited to look around, calm down, and prepare herself for this, and when he arrived, she simply raised one hand in greeting, the other tucked behind her back in half of a military at-rest position, and waved it from side to side once. "Hello."
  22. Rachel stood quiet for a moment, letting everything sit in her work-addled brain. It basically processed as 'something something COMRADE FROST, something something work, something something...wait, how much money?'. She shook the confusion out of her head and started actually talking. "Yes, uh, yeah. Give me a time, and a place, and I can be there in..." Quick mental calculations ensued. How fast could she get all equipped up? "A few minutes?" Teleportation did make everything much easier, didn't it?
  23. Woah, hadn't noticed this thread before. Hi y'all! I've been going by Cabochard online for...wow, years, but in the real world they call me Rick. I'm an occasional fan of comic books, but a bigger fan of the concepts behind them, especially the idea of superpowers in general. I picked up M&M a few days ago and remembered this site from when I did a PbP crawl about a year or so ago. I've done a few PbPs here and there, but most of them fizzled out before it go anywhere. I'm happy to be here, and happy to play with you guys!
  24. That definitely does sound handy, but aren't I maxed at +10 attack?
  25. Player Name: Cabochard Character Name: Tesseract Power Level: 10 (150/150PP) Trade-Offs: None Unspent Power Points: 0 Progress To Bronze Status: 0/30 In Brief: Spatial Manipulator Residence: Small apartment, Lincoln. Base of Operations: Her Apartment. Catchphrase: None yet! Alternate Identity: Sarah Jones Identity: Secret Birthplace: Boston Occupation: Barrista Affiliations: None. Family: Mother, Father, Younger Sister (Boston). Description: Age: 18 (DoB: 1997)Gender: FemaleEthnicity: African-AmericanHeight: 5'7"Weight: 125lbs.Eyes: GreyHair: Red Power Descriptions: Tesseract's powers all manifest as some sort of spatial warping effect. Space around her and under her control bends, sometimes shortening, sometimes lengthening, and occasionally connecting to places it shouldn't. She is never found in-costume without her Localized Spatial Warping effect, a two-fold power that bends space a few inches from her skin, altering distances to confuse the eyes of her enemies, and to turn away blows that could harm her. Her Spatial Control manifests as a large series of powers, including a Spatial Shockwave that contracts space within an 80-foot diameter, then violently expands it, to devastating effect, Spatial Assault, a compacting of space before it's suddenly expanded in one specific direction for a more focused attack, and also one that can repeat multiple times as space bounces, a Spatial Distortion that stretches into the area around her, altering the distances to slow enemies down and trip them up, a Personal Spatial Distortion, which bends space to allow her to reach across impossible distances, access to the Space Between Spaces, where she can store things so that they will not affect the physical world, and the ability to call upon a Spatial Window, to peer at items far from her location. History: Spatial reasoning never quite came to the young Sarah Jones. Born in Boston in the first months of '97, to a native parent and one new immigrant, her family life wasn't awful. She lived in a small two-bedroom apartment, in a little baby's room barely bigger than a walk-in closet, but at least she was fed and clothed. She even went to preschool, though that was where her problems started. Baby Sarah hadn't gotten the traditional toys to play with, and with parents who had little knowledge of the way babies usually developed, the fact that she had started walking much later than normal, and was still very unsteady on her feet, had completely evaded them as something strange. In preschool, however, they caught it. Sarah's spatial reasoning and awareness were far behind those of the other children. She'd developed object permanency just like the rest, but she just didn't seem to get shapes, dimensions, distances, or balance. When she tried to walk, her steps were completely off, putting her balance in completely the wrong direction, and always ended with her toppling over. She couldn't even figure out how to get shapes in the right holes, almost always trying to get the square peg in the circular hole. Eventually, the school labeled her as developmentally disabled, and put her in a special needs class. She stayed in the special needs class until the first grade, when, finally, everything started to click. She managed to catch up with the regular kids, and it was noted that her disability had apparently only limited her ability to gauge dimensions and distances. She had an intelligent mind, otherwise, experiencing only minor difficulty with the more complicated subjects, though math still gave her some problems, particularly basic geometry. When she was asked why she couldn't get it, she would just shrug and say "It just doesn't seem right.". She was held back in her math classes, always working in the one from the previous year, and still struggling with some concepts. The reason for all her difficulty finally emerged in her freshman year of high school. Due to her particular issues, she'd had problems with bullies off and on through middle school, and with high school came a sudden influx of bullies, who jumped on the chance to have fun with this one. It was during one of these, when they managed to corner her behind the school, that her powers manifested. It happened suddenly, for her. She was trapped in a circle, unable to escape, waiting for whatever horrible fate they had in mind that day, when suddenly space shifted. The space between the bullies widened without explanation, until it was wide enough, from her point of view, for a truck to drive through and, suddenly, a spot all the way at the other end of the street was right in front of her. Sarah stepped through the folded space, and she left behind a touch of her power. As the space reasserted itself, to the confusion of the bullies, it created a shockwave, the uncontrolled bending causing reality to reassert itself violently, leaving Sarah's aggressors mildly injured and very confused. The cops were called in immediately, to apprehend all of them, including one very young, very scared girl with emergent and uncontrolled spatial warping powers. It didn't go particularly well, and only ended with a powerful electrical shock to her body, a lucky shot through her protective warping. After a few hours of questioning, and the arrival of a hero with psychic powers to assess the truth of the situation, it all came out. Sarah got off with a short suspension, and the others came out of it with more severe suspensions and, in one case, an expulsion. Soon afterwards, she was approached by Duncan Summers, and he offered her a scholarship to Claremont Academy, where she could learn to control her powers. She accepted, happily moving to Freedom City, until she graduated, with a fair understanding and grasp of her powers. A fresh graduate, Sarah has saved up enough money from odd jobs during her Academy years, to rent a small apartment in Lincoln, and enough experience to get herself a nice job at a small coffee shop on the Boardwalk. While she works, she keeps an eye out for problems, eager to finally get into the business of real superheroing, instead of just training her powers. Personality & Motivation: Sarah Jones is often a cheery person, friendly to new faces, and always up for a challenge. Sometimes, it may seem as though she has something to prove, and pushes herself to match others even when it might be foolhardy to do so. Other times, she seems to genuinely enjoy the challenge, happy to try new things and reach new heights. By contrast, Tesseract is quiet and calculating. She is not unwilling to engage in conversation, but when she does, her conversations are slow and her words carefully chosen, always seeming to expect some sort of trap in the other person's words. Even her voice changes, from Sarah's warm, friendly tone, to a calmer, more distant one. Tesseract is, however, completely dedicated to the ideals of peace and order, and only rarely does she step outside the mandate of the law. Powers & Tactics: Sarah Jones is occasionally known to make stealthy use of her powers during her normal life, mostly for small aids that don't risk blowing her identity. The spatial control it affords her allows her to move far greater distances than normal, making it easy to get from one place to another without a vehicle. Tesseract in combat is a tactician, always trying to manipulate the battlefield to her advantage. Space warps beneath her ministrations, allowing her to move herself, and force her enemies to move, in ways they might never have imagined. However, she is severely limited in her ability to manipulate space at any one time, only able to change one thing, lest it snap back and the feedback harms her. This requires her to think ahead, planning her next few moves, and her next few power uses, before she does anything.
