  1. Stumbling through the dark sucked! Sensors weren't working right, he couldn't tell if he was behind or in front of Macedon anymore. AGH When he got back to claremont he was going to go find "See Spot Run" for mages, maybe try to corner some of the magical students and see if they could give him some pointers on all of this. Still follow the path, left, right right right right wait...Deja vu and a half step out into the light and...and. "What?" They were back in Freedom? No, the skyline wasn't right. It matched up with pictures he'd seen of before of the city before the first terminus invasion. Which meant what exactly? An illusion? Lotus Eater Machine with a sense of humor? Time Travel? Alternate Dimensions? E) all of the above at once? The sight of the Centurion however stopped Howl in his tracks. THE super hero against whom all others were measured was RIGHT THERE. Howl only just caught the end of centurions request then he was gone fighting against someone Howl hadn't gotten a good look at. "H-here. Also, codenames." Howl made the quick short jog to Luke and the others, but mostly Luke considering his friend was now in full dragon mode. "If you're offering I'll take the piggy-back ride." Maybe seeing more the skyline, and the fight would help narrow down the 'when' of this a bit better.
  2. It felt like everything came crashing in at once as the regrettably familiar 'taste' of Casanovas psionic abilities came prickling it's way into Howls mind threatening to steal away the teens sight. Not today however. Howl focused his will, tracing along the mental paths casanovas power had taken before and with great effort snapped shut the proverbial gates. Eyes unblinded let Howl took a quick sidestep moving him was out of harms way as Bluebirds telekinetic assault slammed into the earth. He had to admit she had pretty good range on that power and if she kept floating up there she could take pot shots at her leisure. Priorities being as they were however Howl would have to avoid her for now. Focus on the prize, once Casanova was out of play the rest could be handled or if luck was willing maybe they'd just call it a day. He hoped Casanova hadn't been controlling New Young Justice with his power and had instead just used normal lies. Or was it the other way around? Pushing that disquieting idea out of his head he ran towards the darkness keeping himself out of range of Chumps mighty fists. Howls armor was strong but he really didn't want to see what a strongman of Chumps caliber could do to it if given the opportunity. Taking a chance Howl fired a sonic blast at the entangled Casanova, but failing to account for how the air density was changed by both the darkness grenades and his own Muting of New Young Justice caused the the shot to go wide leaving it little more than a fancy air horn for all the good it did. "@#$%, Big Guy is free from the gunk. Blue Bird is raining shots from above!" Howl knew the other probably already knew from their own abilities, but if not it'd help keep everyone on the same page.
  3. Howl is going to use his movement to try to enter the darkness, preferably not within punching distance of any of New Young Justice, in order to make it harder to be hit. Then he's gonna take a pot shot at Casanova since he's all tied up at the moment. His accurate auditory should allow him to fight well enough in the dark. Sound powers awayyyy~ Blasting at casanova with a 15 Eh not the best but we'll see how it shakes out. If it hits damage code with be...23 right?
  4. Aside from the wind it was actually kind of nice out here. Sure Macedon was Macedon but still, maybe when he got back he'd try to crack the code when it came to teleportation so that he could visit the lonely places of the world again when he needed to clear his head. The others weren't saying anything and he didn't exactly want to put his foot in his mouth so he just..relaxed and let his mind wander, thinking of the different ways he could solve teleporting without ending up in space or inside a rock or something. A few rough decision trees were starting to form when he heard Macedon shout out and scramble for their gun. Following the chaperones gaze Zach realized that the silence hadn't been because everyone was tired or dozed off, but because they were gone. Without wasting any more time Zach emptied his pack until a thick suitcase made of steel fell from it and to the ground. Quickly pressing it to his chest the suitcase quickly expanded, plates of steel dislodging and sliding to new positions as the Silvered armor of Howl formed itself around teenage genius. Seeing Macedon was all ready Howl made his way into the dark, the others couldn't be that far ahead right? Then the sensors started returning garbage data, how on earth could something be a negative distance away!! "So just a question. How deep do these caves go?"
  5. And in a sudden Cacophony everything went went to heck. Not a surprise but still rough. Howl wanted to dive in the fray but to him there were bigger problems that needed to be handled first. Turning towards the controlled teens the augmented movement apparatus within his suit kicked into high gear, the ground was gripped a little surer and more power was put into each step than he would have been able to do on his own. It was no super speed to be sure but it was fast enough to put him right in the teens midst. They'd have to go through him if they wanted to get to the couple.. at least that was the plan. Spotting the darkness grenades explode in a sphere of inky air Howl raised his own gauntlet in return and with a snap that echoed across the park New Young Justice would hear only silence. No Sounds from the on-going fight below, no wind blowing by or even the normal sounds of traffic from the rest of the city as the compact sensors and emitters within his armor tracked and canceled out every wavelength within a humans hearing range that could have reached their ears. Without turning to the besieged couple he said "Get out of here i'll cover you two! Everyone else they can't hear a thing so make some noise!"
  6. So Howl is going to run to put himself between the controlled teens and the couple making sure to activate his "World on Mute" Audio obscure on the members of New Young Justice as he dashes past them. He'd also like to provoke the controlled teens to only attack himself or Nightscale, trying to use his experience being controlled to manipulate the wording of shields command to let the couple get away. Nothing causes more trouble than fighting a hero right? Should i roll bluff for that? Actually rereading things i don't think i have enough actions left for any kind of bluff so i'll just stick with running to the controlled teens and muting New Young Justice.
  7. Zach had kept to himself on the trek so far. He'd bit his tongue to not say anything about the earlier guard. He knew well enough what that was like and seeing it happen so casually set him on edge. At charlies question though he paused to think and double check the readouts his silvered armor was giving him. "My sensors are sensitive enough that I should be able to fight fine enough. If we act at the same time I'll cut off all sound from reaching Young Tyranny over there. No Sight to guide them. No Noise to help them figure out which way we're coming from." Seeing the mental menace do it AGAIN in the park was nearly to much. Zach's entire posture shifted, ready to sprint ahead to cut off the teens that were just as much a victim in this as the couple could be in a few moments. Zach's anger shook him but if asked later he'd say he didn't feel heated, he felt like he had ice water flowing through his veins and a grim certainty that his fist would soon be on an inescapable collision course with Shield's face. "Arrow I'm really hoping you've got a net arrow."
  8. 23 on the base roll. 27 if eidetics +4 remembering bonus kicks in. Both are high enough to open that sweet sweet spoiler so i'll get to cooking up a post.
  9. "Nice to meet you Arrow. Shields wouldn't just use his powers to get attention." there was no mirth in Zachs voice as he reached into his bag and pulled out the manilla folder he'd filled earlier. Still if Arrow was going to help them out better to keep everyone on the same level when it came to information. "Day one when everyone moved in he used his power on me. Well everyone here really. Just because he didn't want to move all of his bags himself." After handing the folder to Arrow or whoever else in the group would take it he continued on. "More than just someone who wants fame and attention he's a liar. He doesn't come from any rich or influential family. The opposite really. He's a kid playing at stardom and always has some money pouring in from 'places'. Were I to make an educated guess I would say that he uses his 'silver tongue' to convince people he deserves their money more than him. I'm obviously biased though. Also for someone who tries to hide as much as he does he puts a lot of revealing info on the net. You'd be surprised how much info you can dig out of his social media. Haven't had the time to find out more about his team though I kinda got distracted by other stuff this week." Feeling a bit sheepish at only having information on casanova he let the folder pass hands before speaking up again when charlie mentioned slipping out past curfew. "Stinger and Bluebird are probably the ones that get their team in and out so easily. They'd probably lead us to the spot they use to get in or out, then we can plug that hole on top of everything else we'll be doing."
  10. "Yeah I guess a teleporting place would be kind of neat. But yeah so, this thing has been popping up all around town." Zach said as he pulled out his phone and brought up several pictures for the two to see. "First time it popped up was down in the Fens at the end of 70th. After that it got spotted near the old Lantern hill cemetery, popped up between a couple of buildings at the uni, deep in the west end, right at the waterfront by 28th and wading, and finally it replaced on ramp onto 4 at the end of Greely in Riverside. If you don't include Lantern hill it forms a..okay a kinda lopsided pentagram. So with that in mind and a few other things I worked out where it should pop up next and it's here in Bayview, the road that leads to the river bank across from Centurions statue. So I kinda want to check it out and if i'm wrong we could I dunno go hang out at the boardwalk after?" The Pictures themselves weren't terribly much, little more than google street view screen shots of the different locations, each one sliding past as he mentioned them. The last one though showed a curious sight. Instead of a street view picture there was instead a video taken from someones Insta which showed the on ramp leading not to 4 as it should, but instead to a short gravel road that lay in front of a large decrepit mansion, it's walls heavily darkened and it's gothic styled windows barely holding themselves in place. It could almost pass for a mansion Dracula would own, if he didn't have any money and let the place rot instead of doing any maintenance. "That last bit by the way doesn't seem like it's been edited, and I tore it apart looking for any slick tricks or cuts. So yeah. Spooky Stuff. I don't know about you two but I don't have any tests for the rest of my classes today. After Lukes done with his lunch we can slip out, poke around, and be back well before curfew."
  11. Few people had cause to distrust Casanova more than Zach and when the mind controlling menace had revealed his new team to the whole school it'd given the young investigator all the motivation he'd needed to dig up as much dirt as he could. What he found unsettled him more than he'd like to let on. If what evidence suggested was true than Casanova needed nothing less than to be thrown behind bars. The rumors that began swirling around didn't do anything to shake Zach of this idea so it was something of a happy coincidence when Charlie asked for his help. A quick trip to his room was all he needed to pick up the his armor, the modified backpack to carry it in, and the good ol' fashioned manilla folder holding physical copies of the information he'd pulled together so far. Rounding the corner to the library made Zach feel a bit under dressed for the occasion. With both Pol and Luke looking ready for a rough powered gym class and the new Rich Preppy Girl looking like her outfit cost as much as his armor did. Either way his denim jeans, black hoodie, and black t-shirt with a Graffiti-inspired stylized Interceptors graphic absolutely did not seem to fit either mood. Zipping up his hoodie he stepped forward to makes his presence known. "Well I think our crowd makes this a bit more than just 'looking into' something. Hey everyone. I'm not late am I?"
  12. Would it be fair to say after Zach's last encounter with Casanova that he would have spent some time gathering information on him? And in the following weeks the members of his new super team? Because if so Skill mastery will let me take 10, and online research lets me use computers for gather information which will let me get to 25 in total.
  13. Show off? Player? The heck were charlie and Luke..oh.OH! They thought he was flirting with Muirne. Well that wouldn't be very hard explai-oh god thinking about it it did sound like he was flirting! A distinct blush crossed his face as the realization set in and he hurriedly adjusted his pack again and jumped at the quickest opportunity to change the subject he could find. "Right, Yeah uhh I'm coming just uhh.. adjusting bag again. Yep. Ready to go!" CRUD now what!? If he followed to close behind Muirne to keep chatting with her it'd look like he was some kind of creep, but if he trailed behind it'd look like he was avoiding her. Oh and the ornery dinosaur would get mad and he did NOT need that for the whole trip. Okay new plan. Fall just a bit back enough if he could that there was someone between him and her. Totally plausible then that it was just how the marching line would shake out! Yep and any red in the face was just the heat. They'd buy that he hoped. The 7 miles felt much longer once they actually got underway and it felt like an extra small blessing when the heat of the day helped disguise any lingering embarrassment blush with good old fashion post workout flush. It was with no small amount of relief when they finally reached the cave and he could take a moment get off his feat for just a few minutes at least. The cold didn't bother him as much either. It was chilly yeah and he did rub his arms a bit to warm up a touch but he did still have his armor in case things got bad enough. With the winds picking up Zach found his annoyance with their chaperone increasing. Dude was bossy as anything and reminded him of every adult who'd ever said they were right simply because they were the adult. "If there's something out here that could be a detriment to our survival shouldn't we be learning how to deal with them? Or at least told what to look out for so we don't do something on the level of using poison ivy as TP out of ignorance?"
  14. October 13th, lunch period at Claremont. Fall had arrived and was here to stay, and many in Claremont Academy wouldn't have it any other way. Many shared stories filled with terror and gloom, of unknowing brusks with supernatural doom. Across social platforms however a curious story began to spread, of kids and teens finding a decrepit and decidedly Gothic Manor appearing in places one shouldn't be around the city. Some said they saw it deep in an alley way, others that they saw it in places where they knew someones house or business stood before. Without anything more than hearsay though it would be easy enough to just dismiss as someones attempt at making fresh creepypasta if it wasn't for the fact that no mods of any sort seemed to take notice of these posts no matter how many rules were broke in the comments. An interesting mystery for sure but one seemingly destined to be forgotten. Or it was. Lunch Period had only just started and the assorted teens of Claremont Academy were already pushing and shoving their way past each other to claim the best tables and other seating when two in the crowd heard the very distinct sound of someone they knew calling their names. "Hey! Pol, Luke! Over here!" Zach called out, raising his voice only loud enough to be heard over the clamor of the crowd as he made his way to whichever of the two was closest and waving the other over. "You two see those stories about the teleporting house? I figured out where it's going to show up next. You two want in on cracking that ball of weird wide open?"

  16. Well between Luke and Callie it looked like the map situation would be handled somehow. Should he have jumped to the chance to check the map? Probably. With his perfect memory he'd even be able to redraw it later if it somehow managed to get lost. This was a whole team class thing though so he'd put his faith in the two of them to get things sorted out, or get yelled at by the worlds grumpiest fossil. Either or. Until that was figured out however he figured he'd do the other part of any good team building thing and get to know the rest of the team. Which if he excluded Charlie left him with Muirne. Which was great as he hadn't had much a chance before or during the drive to get to know either of the girls so there was no better time than now. "Hey, uh, Muirne right? Want help getting anything out of the van?" He asked as he turned towards the Celtic Redhead. Then patting his still obviously stuffed bag asked "Need help carrying anything? I've still got a bit more I can haul around." Yeah, that last bit totally landed as a joke. Nailed that ice breaker.
  17. If Zach had to admit anything about his roomie it was that they were more emotive than some people he had met over the years. He could practically feel the affection the robot had for it's parents rolling off it in waves which made the change it subject all the more awkward. He wanted to offer his help in tracking them down but how do that? Hey pal let me just casually show up the police like a boss. So Zach bit his tongue and resolved to look into it on his own later so that when Pol was ready he'd have a headstart on the whole process and have a lead worth following. If he found something urgent sooner well... he'd figure that out then. "Well for a good list hrm. Nightmare on Elm street one and three, Halloween and its 2018 sequel are also good. Scream has to be included if we're doing a slasher night. If you want to go less slasher and more high tension 1408 and Night of the Living Dead, some choice episodes from The Twilight Zone. Maybe break it up with some Tales from the Crypt for the endless puns from the Crypt Keeper. Woman in Black is also great as a ghost story. Actually could make a whole 'TV Horror Night' really easy if we also toss in Crypt TV even if it's for no other reason than to show off the Look-See. Trying to move it all down to a night or two is the hard part really." It probably wasn't surprising Pol wanted to watch the Terminator movies if anything Zach wanted to see what they thought of them. Well..the goods ones anyway. "Bad Terminator movies? Nah for a trilogy it's a really good. Well okay the third isn't as great but it's still okay. Anyone saying there was anything after that are just pulling your leg. They don't exist. Like the rumors about a Highlander movie on mars. Total bunk. Cough. We'll get those on the list I promise." Between the two of them the Sleuthing Board was coming together nicely, a few more panels and all that would be left would be to loop and hang the different colored string up for future investigations.
  18. To be fair, if somethings big enough to threaten the entire planet/dimension it's by definition big enough to threaten Britain. It'd be pretty easy to handwave his return condition away as a kind of cosmic game of telephone. I like the idea of the authentic Round Table being there. It calls to those who souls it needs for the Knights to stand against evil, but also presents a mystery. Who built it? Merlin may not be the only force of good with skin in this fight. I'm going to stake a claim on Mordred myself. Knight: Mordred Secret ID: Human Woman, 20 years old, petite, Raven Black hair. Literally the soul of a previous cycles Mordred in new flesh. Character themes: Can you ever rebuild what you've destroyed? Or are you doomed to the fate chosen for you by others? Extra Powers:extra charismatic/leadership ability, possibly some fire abilities to represent them as the "Dragon who brought ruin to Camelot" Armor colors: Silvered Armor, orange accents. Scaled patterns in places to reinforce the Dragon theme. Concept/backstory: Mordred never intended for Camelot to fall. After Lancelots seduction of Guinivere and subsequent retreat to France people within Camelot were divided. Many questioned if they could truly follow a king willing to execute his own Queen, it was the punishment for the crime sure but it was still seen as heartless. And so to reestablish support Arthur lead a campaign to bring foreign lands under the sway of Camelots protection, leaving Mordred in place as regent even though they proclaimed they were not ready for such a position. It was in this climate Le Fay struck her most subtle but devastating blow, forging a letter of seemingly noble writ that described the death of King Arthur on the battlefield after being separated from the sheath of Excalibur. Here Mordred made his first mistake, instead of sending the likes of Hen Beddestyr to swiftly confirm the contents of the letter were true he panic'd and claimed the Crown so he could use the Powers of State the position supplied in order to prepare against what he thought would be an invading foreign army. He opened the gates of the treasury to renew the oaths of Nobles to the standing King and raised levies in preparation for the conflict to come. Mordred would make another mistake again when Arthur returned from foreign shores and started waging his war to retake Camelot. Mordred, in part due to the words of his advisors, could not be certain if this was in fact his father, a simulacra, Illusion, or perhaps even a puppet under the thrall of a vile necromancer and therefor ordered his armies to defend the realm. It was finally at Camlann when envoys from both sides were able to convince each other to risk a face to face talk between both Kings, and both fearing treachery ordered their men to attack if they saw naked steel in their foes hands. One snake and clueless footman later and fate was decided. Over a Thousand Knights died including both Father and Son. And Mordreds side of the tale was given the least favorable interpretation by historians and myth makers thereafter. Having fallen to the spear Rhongomyniad instead of Excalibur however left a mark on Mordreds very soul, and so with Merlin calling to those whose wills resonate with the Round Table his memories have reawakened. Mordred hopes that this time they'll get it right. This time Camelot will stand.
  19. Zach could hardly believe his ears so he stopped what he was doing and turned to look dead on at Pol just in case he could spot some small smirk or something that would signal he was being messed with. "Whoa hold up, full stop. You've never been allowed to see any scary movies? Not a one? Okay we're hijacking the common room for a movie night one of these days and you're going to get a crash course in the rich history of movies with great opening entrees followed by terrible sequels. Where to start where to start, I'm actually going to have to think about this. What seems more interesting to you? Supernatural horrors? Serial Killers? Tension so thick you can cut it with a knife? Schlock? Or maybe I'll track down the really old black and white stuff for the classic monster movies and The Twilight Zone." Deciding not to trust himself with saying anymore about the robots meet up zach just nodded in agreement. He'd seen how much care Pol showed what little belongings they owned so he had no doubt that there was a deep reciprocated care and love betwen Pol and their creatures. Oof okay yeah, robot hands were heavy. He wasn't going to admit it but it was surprising. Like picking up a box you thought was empty really. "Make an ARG? That could be a ton of fun. So hell yeah let's do it. Can't be hard to get into the maintenance tunnels or even build a whole scene in the Wreck Room down below. And with your shapeshifting we can have just about any character we can think up be in it."
  20. "In some cases yes. Most of the time no. Hrm, I guess in this context I could have also used Alternate Reality Game even though that also doesn't fully match the full breadth of...Okay let me start again. What I'm referring to is a kind of interactive fiction you, usually, find online nowadays that hides it's story behind context clues, puzzles, and codes and relies on the audience to solve them in order to advance the plot. You can get all sorts of neat puzzles out of it, like for example hints buried deep in a web pages source code, or what sounds like an audio distortion making a picture containing more clues or puzzles when run through a wavelength to video converter. Some of the most devious ciphers I have ever seen put to paper. And of course depending on the author they also take advantage of the real world, doing things like dead drops requiring people to use GPS cords to go out and physically find them. And all that's not even getting into monsters like Cicada 3301. Sadly most of the noncorporate sponsored ones end up stalling out for one reason or another leaving mysteries that just can't be solved due to lack of evidence. Heh I did hear a story a year back of some wannabe Raven down in New Mexico stumbling into an ARG and thinking it was actually some supervillain taunting the world with graphic videos. Turned out it was just a couple of theater majors who really liked horror movies and wanted to experiment with what you could do with an interactive format". Zach really couldn't help but gush. It was rare enough that he could talk to someone in person about his hobbies at all, but to get the chance to explain it to someone who'd seemed like they'd enjoy it had him near tripping over himself to get the words out. He certainly was more animated now that he'd been all day in class. Listening to Pol while putting up the next piece of board did nothing to settle his unease. Archtech? Really? It made sense if the robotic senior was connected to them in some way to be sure, parts alone would cost a small fortune unless you had serious backing but then why would she be here? Some kind of A.I. experiment? AGH all he had was the barest scraps of information and none of it could form anything concrete. Not yet anyway. That'd be for later however, in the meanwhile meeting someone like Miss Americana was a huge deal even with the miasma of Archtech hanging around her. "Miss Americana? You sure you don't have luck manipulating tech under there somewhere? Make sure to get her autograph if you can, two if you can swing one for me also". He paused for a moment thinking of what to say next before deciding to go with full honesty and hoping it didn't come off as catty or campy. "Well Pol if shes hung up on how much money you grew up around than i'd bet you grew with more of what matters than she did. Which now that the words have left my mouth sounds like i'm tossing her under the bus. Not knockin' your friend, just don't let her boss you around."
  21. Pol didn't think this was weird. Nice! "Well I plan on using more than just red string so that I can tell which bits match up to other bits but yeah! I started doing this years ago when I got into Augmented Reality Games. It made it easy to put down and pick back up when uhhrrrmm let's just say I had to take breaks quite a lot. So it helped to pin everything up so I could get right back to it when I was able. It's just kind of a habit now. If you're a big fan of detective stories though have you ever tried your hand at an ARG?" Pol's explanation about Eira made sense but still it sat a little uneasy for him. Maybe it was just low key paranoia popping up but who just offers a free upgrade just out of nowhere? Not only that but from what little he'd heard Eira wasn't exactly someone who screamed charitable. Pol did seem excited about it and Zach didn't want to be a downer but he had to at least offer something as a just in case. "Are you two doing the upgrade on campus? Need any help with it or anything? Cause if you need me to or want me to keep an eye on things I can get pretty much anywhere in this city pretty quick if I armor up. Ah that's if you're going someplace off campus. Not saying I'd need to throw on the silver just..sorry rambling."
