  1. Robber 3's Toughness Save: 11. Unconscious! Robber 6: Full Action: Covering Fire for Robber 8 (+4 Bonus to Defense or Free Attack)
  2. He'd certainly feel that in the morning. Meanwhile, three more men made their way back into the main room, two with bags of loot slung over their shoulders. Two of the remaining robbers took notice, doing their best to provide covering fire in all the mayhem as they simply attempted to bypass the conflict and make a hasty retreat. Looks like the unconscious ones were on their own...

  4. Actually, the taunt failed. But even so, it still hits. I don't even think I need to roll for Toughness. With his score, he's unconscious no matter what. Robber 6: Pass (Spends entire round entering main room)
  5. The robber seemed unimpressed at Monsoon's insult, due to a mix of not understanding Arabic, and being too distracted by the idea of a possible superhuman before him. However, the knockout kick to one of his comrades told him this wasn't the time to dawdle. He opened fire again on the redhead, this time a sustained burst. The remaining two men in the room followed suit, one aimed at the redhead as well, the other at the attacker, as one of the men tasked with taking out the cameras returned to the main room to check on the commotion.

  8. At that point, the redhead was far from unnoticed, and the robbers could definitely tell by her nonchalant expression that she wasn't afraid. In their minds, that could only mean one thing. One of the four in the main room promptly opened fire on the redhead, firing a single shot from his assault rifle. It most certainly hit its target, but whether or not it downed her would confirm or disprove their suspicion...

  10. This is the OOC thread for this thread!
  11. Freedom City Credit Union, Wading Way Branch 11:00 AM, 1st February 2016 The day started off innocently enough for the cozy FCCU branch. The clerks were looking forward to their respective lunch breaks when a pair of unmarked black vans pulled up. Before anyone even took particular notice, eight men armed with black masks and assault rifles barged in. Four of them began shouting for clerks and patrons alike to get on the ground, two began making their way to the vault, and two got to work systematically shooting out security cameras. Whoever they were, they knew what they were doing. The clerks couldn't even manage to pull the alarm before being stopped at gunpoint...

    Crescendo

HellQ (WIP) Introduction Who are you? Sum yourself up in one sentence. Put simply, I'm the one with the sharp axe who never falls flat. Do you have any nicknames, street names, titles, or nom de plume? I can't say that I do, no. Aside from Crescendo, of course. What is your full birth name? Edward Rhodes. I'm assuming you know to keep that to yourself. Where do you live? Er... I live in the Theatre District... With my parents... How old are you? What year were you born (if applicable)? Twenty-two years, and ninety-two, in that order. Physical Traits What is your gender? If not applicable, please explain. Male. I'm going to guess that's a formality, or something. How would you describe your heritage? Well, my mother's American, and my father's British. Dad moved to Seattle early on in his life, though. How tall are you? Five-eleven, I think. It's been a while since I last checked... What is your body type? Normal humans don't become heroes sitting around on the couch, that's for sure. Do you have any particular weaknesses, such as allergies or physical disabilities? None that I can really think of off the top of my head... How do you carry yourself? Are you graceful, or heavy on your feet? Can you be stealthy, do you walk with confidence? I walk with the grace of a three-four time signature, and when I need to, I know exactly where to place a few sixteenth-note-triplets. Describe your skin, eye, and hair color. Describe them? Okay. My skin is pale as a full summer moon, my eyes like wilted leaves, My hair like the shell of a molting cicada, hiding among the trees. How do you wear your hair, if applicable? Do you have facial hair? I get it cut if it starts getting in my eyes, but otherwise I just don't pay much attention to it. Do you consider yourself attractive? Do others? Eh. I consider my music attractive. Never really thought about myself, though. Do you have any scars, tattoos, piercings, or birthmarks? Nope. Tattoos are a liability to secret identities. Do you resemble anyone famous? Famous? No clue. I don't look like any musicians I know of, and that's really the extent of my knowledge of famous people. Do you have a dominant hand? I'm a lefty. I play right-handed though. The extra dexterity's good for fretting. What kind of clothing do you wear? Outside of my costume, just whatever is comfy or looks nice. Do you wear makeup? I don't really do hair metal. What is your vocal range? Is your voice distinctive in some way? I don't like my voice very much. It's a shame, all this musical talent, and I can't sing. Do you have any distinctive habits, nervous tics, or mannerisms? Where did they come from, and what causes them? Do other people notice and remark on these habits? Do they annoy you or other people? Occasionally I tend to stray a little far from tonic. Oh, and the metaphors... History Where do you come from? I was born in Seattle, but I consider Freedom City my hometown. Have you made any major moves, or do you live in your hometown? When I was five, I moved to Freedom City, but I don't remember that very well... Do you feel loyal to your country of citizenship? Do you consider yourself patriotic? How do you feel about the government of your country? There's a reason they write so many songs about the U.S.A. How do you feel about the place you come from? Seattle? I don't remember it too well, but I hear it's up there with Memphis for good music. I'd argue it's better then Memphis, especially for the kinds of music I usually like. Where is your home town? What was/is it like? Well, have a look around, and you tell me. Growing up, were most of the people you knew similar to you, or were you somehow a minority? How did that affect you? I grew up in the Theatre District once I moved here, so I was generally around other artsy-types all my life. I'd say it helped a bit. Is there something you've always been really good at or really bad at? How has that affected your life? Music. I took to it like a rock beat to a four-four time signature. Were there any traumatic experiences in your early years (death of a family member, abandonment, orphaned at an early age)? Surprisingly, no. I hear it's usually the case with heroes, but no, I had a pretty good life. Briefly describe a defining moment in your childhood and how it influenced your life. Well, there was this one time I went to my first concert when I was about eight. It was when I decided that I wanted to spend my life with music. What stupid things did you do when you were younger? Heh. I remember when I learned that amps weren't waterproof. Not even the nice ones... Where did you go to school? How much school did you have, and did you enjoy it? What, you mean college? I never went. I was going to, but then I decided to be a hero instead. Do you have any mementos of your childhood? What are they, and why did you keep them? If you have none, why not? I still have my first guitar hanging on a wall in my room. I got it when I was eight, a day or two after that concert. When did you decide to become a hero? Why? Did anyone influence you one way or another in the decision? When I was about eighteen. I did it because I was bored, at least that was the reason when I started my training. Eventually my parents insisted I get a job or move out, so that spurred me to train even harder. Is the reason you give people for becoming a hero different than your real reason? If so, why? Nope. That's pretty much it. Do you have any deep, dark secrets in the past that may come back to haunt you? Not really, no. Secret identity aside, I'm like an open chord. Do you represent yourself as being different from who you really are? Why? Again, not really. I'm a huge music nerd, both in and out of costume. If you do have these secrets, what do you fear would happen if the truth became known? How far would you go to protect those secrets? Well, if you mean the secret identity, I really don't want to have to deal with my parents being held hostage or something... Do you have any sort of criminal record? If so, is it public knowledge? Nope. No criminal record. Family What are your biological parents' names? My mother and father are Sara and Daniel Rhodes, respectively. Were you raised by them? If not, please explain and describe who raised you. Yep. I'd say they did a pretty good job. What was their standing in the community? What did/do they do for a living? Mom teaches at the university over at the North End. Dad was in a band back in Seattle, but now he's a session musician. Where are your parents now? Right now? Well, mom's definitely in a class, and I think dad said something about a gig this morning... Did your family stay in one area or move around a lot? Once we got to Freedom, we didn't move very much. How did you get along with their parents? How do you get along with them now (if applicable). They don't exactly like my choice of occupation, but they tolerate me enough. How do your parents view you now, or how would they? Like I said, they love me, not the biggest fan of my hero work. Do you have any siblings? If so how many and what are their names? Describe your relationship with them. Nope, I was an only child. What was your birth order in the family? Only child, like I said. Where are your siblings now (if applicable)? Do they have families of their own? What do they do? Still not applicable, sorry. Do you stay in touch with them or have you become estranged? Again? Nope, still not applicable. Do you love or hate one member of the family in particular? Nope, I love them equally for putting up with me. Is any member of the family special to you in any way (perhaps, as a confidant, mentor, or arch-rival)? Well, if I HAD to play favorites, my dad's pretty cool. I wish I could be in a band, but it seems I'm more cut out for solo work. Are there any black (or white) sheep in the family (including you)? If so, please explain. As much as I'd hate to admit it, I'd say I'm the black sheep. They think my hero work is dangerous. Do you have a notorious or celebrated ancestor? If so, please explain, including how it has affected your life. Not that I can think of. I don't exactly have my family history at the ready. Do you have a partner and children currently? If so, please describe them. Nope. Still single, still living with my parents. If you do not have a partner or children, do you want them someday? How firm are you in your opinion on this, and what might change your mind? Er... Sure? I haven't really thought about it much, I've been so busy with my music and my hero-ing... What type of person would be your ideal mate? Well, they'd have to be able to put up with me, first of all. I'm told the metaphors start to grate after a while. From there, they'd have to like music... I haven't thought about it much, like I said. Relationships Do you have any close friends? If so, please describe them, and how you came to be close to them. Well, the first that comes to mind is Roger. He makes a living building stage props. I met him through my dad, and he helped design my axe and costume. Do you have a best friend? If so, how did they become your best friend? How close are you to your best friend? If you were to go missing, who would worry about you? Have you lost any loves? If so, how did it happen, and what did you do? Do you have any bitter enemies? If so, please describe them and their history with you. 14. Ground the Axe for a Long Time by HG Morrison Crescendo Bought Super-Senses 1 ( Analytical Normal Hearing ) [1PP] Bought 1 additional rank of Device for The Sour Note, making it: Device 3 (The Sour Note; 15PP Container; Flaws: Easy-To-Lose) [9PP] Base: Strike 5 ( slashing, vibrational; Extras: Penetrating 7; Feats: Extended Reach, Mighty) [14DP] AP: Blast 7 ( Tritone, sonic; Extras: Area [70-ft Cone, General]; Flaws: Range [Touch] ) [1DP] On that note, The Sour Note's Strike now has the Slashing and Vibrational descriptors, to justify the additional 4 ranks of Penetrating. Crescendo's Power Description has also been changed to reflect this.
  15. Crescendo blinked behind his goggles at the scene in the upper room. No ninjas? He thought, Darn, just when I thought things would liven up... "Wait a minute..." He suddenly spoke up, turning his head to the vent. "We may not have reached the chorus yet, but the song is far from over." Crescendo said, seeming too distracted to even bother deciphering his metaphor. "Did any of you hear anything odd a few moments ago?" He asked, looking amongst all present company. "Specifically, from the air ducts?" It seemed the family's explanation, and consequently Terrifica's prediction, would have to wait...
  16. Crescendo would certainly pick up on the metallic sound, very slowly inching towards the nearest window as it continued. By the time it stopped, Crescendo was at the open window, peeking upwards. If it was previously closed, it wasn't now. Though he couldn't know for sure exactly what it was, he knew it was both suspicious and above him, and that the plan could wait. By the time the gunfire-esque sound echoed into the downstairs room, Crescendo was already scrambling out the window, and a few seconds after the scream, Crescendo was already scrambling into the window directly upstairs. If it was unlocked, he'd simply open it and climb through, If not, the owner was rich enough to replace a broken window or two.

  18. Crescendo ponders a bit, making note of each response in turn, particularly Foreshadow's. "It seems you and I are intervals of the same chord, as far as combat styles go." He commented, rising to a stand. "I use an axe and have a blatant musical motif, but we both seem to be patrons of the ways of agility." He nods a bit to himself. "That said, it seems at least two of us are primarily close combatants. That may need to be accounted for in your plan." Crescendo finished, humming a quiet melody to himself. I hope there's a piano somewhere around here, it certainly would help... Getting off track again. Focus. "I'll do what I can to help, but unquestioning loyalty, I cannot promise."
  19. Crescendo seemed to take particular interest in that last sentence. Rich, powerful people looking to eliminate problems? Maybe I shouldn't leave a thumb-drive this time, it could be bad for my music career... He thought, before mentally returning to the conversation. "If what you say is true, that would explain why you haven't thrown us out yet." Crescendo commented, adjusting a shoulder plate on his costume. "In that case, wouldn't it help to know what we have to work with?" After all, from all he could see, he was paired with someone short, someone smart, and someone with a smart mouth...
  20. Crescendo looks to the small female curiously, his trained ears easily picking up the creaking of the chair. That's certainly odd, he thought to himself, before quietly listening to the detective. His words were a bit insulting, but they seemed about right. When the detective asked if he was clear, Crescendo started to respond, before being cut off by the female in blue. At that point, his mind began to wander. Listening to the conversation started to take a back seat to his thoughts of music. It was a good thing nobody could see the vacant look in his eyes behind his goggles. When the blue-clad female finished, his mind began to slip back into reality. God, that was boring. I hope it wasn't too important... He thought, simultaneously hoping that nobody in the room was a telepath. That would be bad.

  22. Crescendo blinks behind his goggles, as he notices a small female following behind him just as he closes the door. He looks down towards her as she makes her way inside as well. "Sorry... Didn't see you there, or I would've let you in. You're not a ninja, are you?" He chuckles a bit at that ninja comment, before hearing the detective calling from another room. He makes his way past the kitchen on his way there, quirking an eyebrow at the man making a sandwich within, before moving on, finding a place to stand in the living room, presumably for briefing, or whatever it was the more social heroes did at this point.
  23. Crescendo looked to the large mansion as he approached, double-checking a small slip of paper. This looks like the place. This would be the hero's first bodyguard job. His first job working with people at all, in fact. Usually his jobs involved simple 'hit and runs'; intercept a small-time robbery, knock them out, leave behind a thumb-drive. Crescendo got the feeling this was going to be a bit more involved than that. Still, it would be worth it to knock the mob down a peg or two... Regardless, he approached the mansion, and knocked on the door, taking the time to make sure he looked as nonthreatening as he could with a giant axe strapped to his back.
