  1. How did Stronghold pick out the car so easily? Well…it was kind of…a pumpkin. Yes, a pumpkin car. A Pumpkar, if you will. A Pumpkar that was curiously obeying the speed limit as it trundled down the road. Queenie’s voice was completely deadpan. “Well. I don’t think anyone could ever lose that car. Not even if they tried.†With permission given, she scooped up both ‘Blazer and Stronghold in a silver saucepan and lifted into the air. Just as someone in the Pumpkar spotted the heroes. Belying it’s appearance, the Pumpkar picked up speed, shattering the speed limit. Maybelle pursued. She caught up easily and the trio was poised to catch the amateur villains. That was when they whipped out banana rifles and pea pod pistols and started firing. At the civilian cars behind them. Tires screeched and metal crunched. Maybelle glanced behind at the damage. Two cars had collided and a van had gone over a fire hydrant and into a corner store. “Oh, darn it all! ‘Blazer, can you keep up with them? I can’t just leave these people, and Stronghold’s not fast enough!â€
  2. And Vonnie will take 10 on Knowledge (Physical Sciences) for the design phase to hit 15. And to actually make something: Craft (Mechanical) w/ -2 penalty 20.
  3. Vonnie has INT 18 and a point of training each in Craft Mechanical and the Knowledges Physical Sciences and Technology. He also has Inventor. If the two could perhaps work together?
  4. “Bows? I don’t know…the wood’s plentiful enough, but something that’d work as a bowstring? I mean, I’m good, but lots of people are better. I’m not a miracle worker, but I can try. Don’t be mad if they don’t work, or break easy.†Vonnie leaned against a tree and thought. “Ropes would be good. Ropes I can do. It’s anything sharp that’s the problem. I don’t have a knife. Can’t whittle without a good sharp knife.â€
  5. Terrifica watched the man back up. She opened her mouth to warn him…but then he fell. Well. That’s a shame. …I suppose I should save him. She moved to do just that, but that was when Kit blurred past her. What in the world… And then the two popped up under that desk, making a racket. It did not take a supergenius to deduce where the illusions were coming from, now. Though I admit that laugh was somewhat…unsettling, there are far worse things in the literature. And that’s without mentioning a certain Mythos. She strolled over to the desk and crouched down behind it. “Nicely done. Fine illusions, too. Now can we do this in a way that doesn’t almost make a man accidently commit suicide?â€
  6. “Hmm.†Queenie tilted her head thoughfully. “Taking down a hero good enough that someone else wanted the name after he died is impressive, no doubt about it. Thing is, there’s different kinds of impressive. There’s getting a good review on your cooking at your family barbecue, and getting a good review on your food from the harshest critic in Paris.†At a bunch of blank looks, she fidgeted in place. “I mean…in the Liberty League back in the Seventies there was the Raven, The Scarab, and the Centurion. One was just human, one had real power, and the other was, well…the Centurion. Takes a bit more force as you go up the line, and uh…†She’d put her foot in her mouth on this one, for sure, and looked very uncomfortable about it. “I mean…I’m just a chef from South Carolina, not some super detective or whatever. I don’t know anything about Cloudrunner or any of your heroes. I don’t even know why y’all called lil ol’ me instead of, I don’t know, Velocity or some other big leaguer and I’ll just shut up nowâ€. She had the look of someone trying their absolute hardest to disappear.
  7. They always left clues. No matter how hard they tried, no matter how efficient, practical, and professional a team like this was, they always left clues behind. That is, if one knew where to look. Terrifica, being a practiced supergenius, knew exactly where to look. A whispered word of street gossip here. A short posting on a Deep Web chatroom there. Certain persons purchasing supplies. Even if the supplies were handed to the crew right before the job, they came from somewhere. Somewhere where they would be noticed missing. Or better yet, never noticed at all. And every career criminal had habits and superstitions. A favorite cigarette brand. A certain meal that guaranteed success on a job. Visiting an old friend. Etcetera. Tiny little clues that apart, meant nothing. If even one was missing, there wouldn’t even be an inkling that something was about to happen. But. Terrifica looked everywhere. At everything. She put together the tiny clues. Found the insignificant details that others would dismiss out of hand. And ended up here, in this shadowy corner, watching a fairly professional crew with tools they should barely known existed, much less had in their hands, break into to HIT. This job was well planned and thus far well executed. Even she hadn’t figured out what they were after. Yet. But there was time. She could even let them steal it and tail them. Something this well planned had a big name behind it. Or maybe a new player. Either way, good to know who it was. She smiled slightly. This could be a very productive night.
  8. Terrifica closed her eyes, thinking. “My apologies. I did not mean to imply your nephew was the idiot in question. I referred to his friends, or people he may owe favors or money to. He himself may be as good a man as you think, but I can guarantee you not everyone in his life is the same. He may even be unaware of this himself. As I said, people tend to hide the uglier parts of their lives from those they care about. I do not believe Takuma is responsible for this. However, that does not rule out someone he may have told about your daughter. Or someone that person may have told.†You yourself just said he has been under some stress. That, with a history of rash behavior? I doubt he’s the kidnapper, but he knows something. She took in a breath, and let it out. “However. That I can find out for myself. Do you have his address?†At Mechanized's suggestion, Terrifica blinked. "That isn't...impossible. The problem with that theory is I neglected to mention that two spells were cast in that room. The teleport and something to animate an object. Also, the description of the girl's powers and how the magic actually was...they don't match. Her powers suggest purity and light. This magic was...dirtier, with no real light to it. Still, it's something to keep in mind." Terrifica was impressed. Most people wouldn't have caught that. Her opinion of the girl improved tremendously.
  9. Present and accounted for!
  10. ALL THE PROBLEMS by Thevshi Just a complications redo for Terrifica.
  11. Terrifica sighed heavily. “We’re dealing with an idiot who has more magic power than intelligence. He left what might as well have been a flashing neon sign saying ‘I’ve taken the girl to the Waterfront. Come and punch me.’ Really, I’ve solved harder mysteries after two nights without sleep. Barring any acts of actual intelligence and forethought on the kidnapper’s part, your daughter should be home before sunrise.†And with the description of her powers, this is likely the most naked of power grabs. Honestly. I am completely surrounded by idiots. Still. This one. Mechanized. Building that suit of hers shows she has some brainpower. The mention of the brother’s son…. “Mrs. Miyamoto, tell me about your nephew. You may think of him as a good man, but I have found that people tend to hide the uglier parts of their lives from those they care about.†And that is the charitable way of putting it.
  12. “Starshot, I’m a city kid. I’ve never been in a cave in my life.†Vonnie had managed to cool his temper while they had worked. “They don’t have this much…this in Brooklyn. Manhattan, either.†He was messing around with a fairly long stick of wood, tossing it from hand to hand while looking thoughtful. Length’s decent. Smooth enough. Dunno if it’s sturdy as oak or pine, though. “Either one of you know how sturdy this kind of wood is? Wouldn’t be a bad club.â€
  13. Maybelle was in Aussieland on a kind of a vacation. A daycation, if you would. A day, maybe a day and a night. She’d flown part of the way herself, and hitched a ride on a passing airliner or three for the rest. It was a longer trip than she thought it’d have been. Getting across the continental US wasn’t really a hassle. It was all that darn ocean. But she’d made it. Visited a few of the locally recommended restaurants. And now she was here, maybe having to stretch out her daycation to an actual vacation. You stop one police chase. Help put out one brush fire. Talk one suicidal person down off a bridge. Save one stranded ferry. …okay, maybe she’d been doing as much superheroing as eating. And maybe she’d started stretching her daycation longer before today. But…people got in trouble. She couldn’t just, you know, stand aside and do nothing. Not that she was bitter. It had been a fun trip. Just she was getting a little homesick and ready to head back out to sea when the ASN called her hotel. Today, Maybelle looked a heck of a lot more like some random civilian than a powerful superhero, which would explain Cat’s confusion. No mask, tan vest over light blue shirt, and tan slacks don’t exactly scream mighty savior of the people, after all. “Yep, that’s me. Queenie. Never really saw the point of the whole mask and costume thing myself.†With a glance at her compatriots, she added “Just a personal thing, though. You guys look real nice.†Her Southern accent was gentle, but definitely noticeable. She jerked a thumb at Riff. “Like the man said, the message was a little vague. I’m always up for some saving folks and boppin’ bad guys over the head. Just dunno which it is yet.â€
  14. Terrifica was actually impressed by the level of detail in the model. However, she kept it off her face. “The plan seems sound enough, if rather ambitious. However, as the saying goes, no plan survives first contact with the enemy. In this case, the enemies are the unknown whims of fate. The proverbial flies in the ointment.†She stepped over to the table full of blueprints. Handling them with care, she began to look them over. “Most of these will need modifications. Building codes have changed since these were first used, and some of the machinery designs are laughably outdated. A modern first year engineering student could do better. I’ve seen middle schoolers do better as well, but those are prodigies. However…†A confident smirk spread across her face. “I’ve finished harder tasks. When do we start?â€
  15. Technical knowledge you say? Terrifica says she can help with that.
  16. Queenie. Maybelle McQueen. Master chef with a power ring. So, so in.
  17. Red Rat & Revenant The Rat’s bullets went way wide of their target, smacking into the car she and Revenant had taken to get here. The man on the lawn threw an incredulous look at the house, then regarded the arriving Revenant. “Who am I? Mister Exposition?†There was a brief pause. “ …actually, knowing this town there is somebody using that name. Look, hero. I’m just waiting for my associate to pick me up in about…†He glanced at his watch-less wrist. “Two minutes. If you think you can take me you’re welcome to try. Otherwise I’m just killing time here, being shot at by someone who’s doesn’t know which end of the gun to point at me.†Blue Jay Olive slipped under Jay’s blow and vanished in a flash of green light. Without using her gun.“Sorry, chica. I use my brain, not my fists.†Olive had reappeared on Esther’s balcony. She flicked the selector switch again and fired. A beam of greenish energy shot out of the gun and nailed Jay square. “Honestly. You’d think we were selling the girl to some child slavery ring or something. I know that hurt, chica, but listen to me. Girl’s fine. Probably having cake and ice cream with her Aunt Esther right now. Oh, right. Aunt Esther’s on a liquid diet these days. Well. It’ll be fine.†She smirked. “Probably.â€
  18. If there was a better straight line, Terrifica couldn’t think of one. And that was saying something. She flicked the light switch on the wall, revealing the full layout of the trailer…and herself, leaning against the outer wall. Even though she knew it would present the wrong impression, she couldn’t help smirking. Best entrance, or best entrance? “Oh, he’s okay. But me? I’m terrific.†She took a few moments to let their surprise (or lack thereof, annoyingly) subside. “I hear you’re planning a Halloween party. Featuring a haunted house to end all haunted houses. You’re going to need my help.â€
  19. Let's see what Vonnie can do with his meager +1 bonus. Oh, 16? I suppose that will do, then. Orokos really likes me, for some reason.
  20. If you could fit Queenie into A World Lost, that'd be super. Little Problems could also work just fine.
