Pitch ducked under the flying Wayward, feeling the crunch of power.

I can't lift the damn thing..

Which was frustrating and vexing. It weighed a ton. At least in her mind. Which was all that really counted. Lifting the statue felt like her mind was being squeezed out of her skull.

So she just raised a fist, felt the anger and flame and smoke and fury flow through her, and clenched it, tight like a vice, focussing all that power into a crushing force around the statue.

The heroes and the animated golems continue their battle in the park, now with the heroes' counter attack beginning to turn the tide.  Wayward and Pitch continue their attack on the animated statue of the everyday superhero.  While Wayward's continued hand to hand strategy doesn't result in any immediate dents in the statue, it does provide Pitch an opportunity to focus however as she is able to change tactics and crush the statue rather than try to lift it.

Elsewhere the hero known as Asad lends a hand to the beleaguered Maxima by unleashing a devastating blast of energy onto the Hydra-tree.  The creature was knocked off of its feet and sent reeling by the force of the blast, digging a deep trench into the ground as it tumbled and rolled with the blast, several of its heads breaking off from the force of the impact.  The broken branches reverted back to their usual form once severed from the Hydra body, and the Hydra itself seemed to be tangled and confused after the assault.

In the skies, the soaring Eagle unleashed another bombardment of its signature feather javelins, this time targeting a whole swath of ground that Pitch, Wayward and the Hero golem occupied, seemingly unconcerned with the other golem's well-being as several stakes struck their mark, scratching the latter golem's frame.

Young Britannia weaved through the air as she tried to get a good bead on the target as well as trying to get it’s undivided attention. After a few test shot at the creature Agnus felt she had a good bead on the creature and sent one of her more powerful burst of energy towards the enemy.

She just hoped it was enough to get and keep the statues attention. She’d rather it tried to hurt her, she could take some harm, than pick on innocent bystanders.

The battle in the Park turns in a real slog as both parties go at, but the heroes are starting to pull ahead a bit.  Young Britania is able to catch the Eagle full on in the wing, blowing most of it to pieces, sending the Eagle into a tailspin, where it crashes into the ground with a tremendous thud.

Elsewhere, Maxima calls out to Asad.  "Thanks for the assist.  I'm going to stop that thing from getting more solid; I don't know what its intentions are, but I'm certain we don't want to find out." and with that she leaps over to the giant golem housing the rock from space, delivering a flying dropkick.  Unfortunately, the golem sees her coming and gets its guard up to absorb the blow well in advance.  Maxima's feet barely touch the ground before she has to leap to the side as the oncoming pillar of stone that is the giant's arm crashes to the ground, right where she had been standing a moment before.  As the two combatants size each other up, their fight is intruded upon by the pond--scum-muck monster, as it sprays Maxima with whatever gunk it's using as a projectile now, and the later staggers around, clearly unable to see.

Damn, this thing's tough.

Who thought a giant pile of metal would be this hard to bash to bits with a stick?

But as the creature starts twisting, contorting, and compressing, Wayward sees her opening.  Just in time to see a volley of razor-sharp feathers flying at her.

Thinking quickly, Wayward takes two birds with one stone.  A little quick footwork has her behind the statue, using it as a shield against the deadly rain as she throws all her weight and momentum into a thrust for the knee, aiming to blow it out from the behemoth's own weight.

Now... now we were getting somewhere.  He pressed his advantage, gaining a bit of tunnel vision before he gave chase, accelerating to his full speed, and hitting the beast center mast with a punch.  It was thunderous, reverberating, and throwing even more sod around like the explosion that it was.

Still with it rocked from his onslaught, he grabbed it, his fingers digging into... whatever it was.  Tree... or something else, and he pushed up, into the air, the burst of speed sufficient to put him at the height of some of the tallest skyscrapers in Freedom City.

"What's that think made of? Its tougher than my aunt's meat loaf!" yelled Pitch, directed at the animated statue and Wayward who was bravely fighting it.

She hustled, quickly as she could, to a nearby car, in case any more feathers - or lightning bolts - or fireballs - got hurled her way. With this chaos who knew what toxic projectile would be flung.

As for the statue of metal, she could only suppose it would need more than she had if they were going to take it down by breakfast the next day. Reaching insider her, further than she ever had, she dove her soul into the infernal forge, where metal and fire and molten steel poured through smoke and chains and giant clockwork wheels.

All metal, all fire, touched this place, and this place touched it back. She sucked that hot steel out, and poured it into the Hero Statue, which started to heat up...

  • 2 weeks later...

Agnus weaved and spun through the air trying to both avoid any possible attack and get a good bead to hit the creature itself. As she did she loosen off several bursts of energy in it's direction. She didn't have time to keep an eye on what was going on on the gropund but hopefully things were going better than her pitiful attempts at attacks.

The heroes were rapidly starting to turn the tide of this engagement.  Wayward and Pitch continue their joint assault on the statue of the everyday hero, with Wayward's harrying assault preventing it from standing straight as a large dent is put into its knee, before Pitch's fell magics begin to warp the golem's frame as it begins to glow red hot from an unhallow flame.  At the other end of the park, Asad wailed on the giant Hydra tree, smacking back down into the ground.  He wasn't done however as he grabbed hold of the hydra's tail, and hauled it high into sky, likely setting up for the coup de grace.

Towards the middle of the area, Young Britania volleyed a barrage of energy at the downed Eagle, and when the smoke cleared, there was naught but smoking splinters.  A faint ripple of the leyline of circuitry spread across the ruins of the creature before dissipating entirely.  While still blinded, Maxima is assaulted by the Meteorite golem, and staggers back a few steps but doesn't fall.  On the plus side, she got the muck out of her eyes.  The muck monster also tries to blind Young Britania in the same way it did Maxima, spewing forth it's vile concoction at the hero.

Wayward continues ducking and weaving around the statue, probing it with jabs for an opening, a vulnerability. "Got any of that meat loaf?" she calls out to the hellspawned biker. "I could throw it at 'im!"

As the creature begins to warp and shift, the star sees her chance.

She side-steps past a staggering blow and props her staff in front of the thing's ankle as her leg whirls through the air for a kick from the side to take this behemoth down.

The kick instead goes clean through the statue, opening up a hole in its side, releasing scalding gas and covering her boot with molten metal. "God dam- What the Hell is that?" she proclaims as she hops back, freaked out by the new, sudden, oozing fiery death that just got spilled all over her brand new boots.

Well, not wearing those again.

Pitch ducked down behind the abandoned car. A pristine antique, she noticed, with some guilt. If some stray animated statue threw something at her, it would be totalled.

Nice as it is, better it than me...

She slid down out of view, still concentrating. The molten metals of the Infernal Forge poured into this dimension. She forced the heat to slide down the bones of the statue, sloughing its steel as it went...

Elevator goes up... now it has got to go down.

Arcing as he hit the apex of what he was desiring, he swung the big... thing around and didn't just fall, he flew down.  Intending, and then succeeding in battering that thing into that huge golem... thingie.  In either case he just suplexed the hydra onto it from the height of a skyscraper.  It was pretty as hell, but not the most effective thing, even as he kept his hold on the beast.  "Hey, you, ugly!  How about you take a swing at me, or I am going to keep hitting you with your buddy until only your head sticks out!"  Asad was known for his subtlety.
