Curtain Call(IC)

Recommended Posts

Not even a chuckle? Sam looks a bit confused as Kat leaves. She was certainly having fun. Eh, whatever. She can be a killjoy if she wants.

Though it does leave the rafters a lonely place. She stays behind a while, in case the ghost comes back and pulls her phone out while she waits.

"Play cancelled. Restless ghost attack. I beat it." she texts her guardian, not really expecting her to care. If anything, she'll probably feel vindicated that she didn't actually miss the play.

Eventually, it's time to go... no, not home. In her mind, that's already Claremont. The Vance estate is just another place she has a room.

She steps through the shadows once more, a far longer jump than the one that took her here, all the way to Chicago. To the Vance estate, a building big enough to house a couple hundred Claremont students easily. Home to Talia Vance of Vance International. Industrialist, businesswoman, and cape by night. Well, most nights.

The plan is still to spend the night at the estate, the intention to get some sort of quality time with her guardian. Now, Miss Vance's business in Freedom City is probably going to take all night, while she's staying in Chicago.

Tired, she barely notices the beautifully furnished surroundings. She passes off her dress to the butler whose name she never bothered to remember, with a word about 'hero work,' and a request to see if it could be salvaged. She leaves too quickly for a reply, not wanting to hear whatever excuses Miss Vance had left, if she'd even bothered.

Instead, she goes to her rarely-used room. She'd had no input to the asylum-white number, without a single hint of color. White walls, white doors, white sheets, everything. It was even less 'home' than the smaller guest room she'd stayed in the few times Masque and the Phantom Fox could actually work together. But it's not important right now. She just dresses down and throws herself under the covers, the only thing keeping her awake is a shadow of hope that she might get a text back.

Jessica was just outside the theater all throughout the fight, nearly frantic with terror for Kat at the sounds within, her fears not helped by the news that her friend was totally missing from the building. She had called the police immediately, and helped see to the evacuation of the few stage-hands and other employees hadn't made it out of the back rooms, not daring to go anywhere near to the main stage in case she was used as a hostage. One of the STAR squad-members had caught a brief glimpse of two figures up in the rafters, though description was impossible. That news was vague, but enough to make sure that Jessica wasn't nearly as unrestrained with her relief on learning Kat was unhurt the next day as she might have been.

Martin's wounded ankle had healed magnificently during the next few days, the props that had been damaged in the Silver Scream's sudden attack were easily replaced, and the play had resumed production once Eldrich placed powerful wards against Lauren repeating her attack on the theater.

After the nasty shock of having an all too-real ghost invade, Fred's 'trick' for when the apparition in the cemetery raised not a few hollers and cries of terror from the audience, though his rather more gentler reading made the ghost's scenes much more assuring than they had been before.

Once again, Kat and Jess revealed the judge's shadowed past, bringing the evils of he and his son to light! Once more, the audience cheered on the final confrontation, and saw the wicked punished the innocent rewarded. Once more, the cast was assembled for one last curtain call!
