Description: Halfing can take any form she chooses but generally keeps to a much more glamorized version of her base form, which mostly resembles Earth Primes Changeling but has been altered to fit the more local definition of beauty. Since all her clothing she makes from herself, she changes them frequently but follows and copies the modern trends to better blend in.

Power Descriptions: Not a true fae, but not a mortal anymore Halfing has an interesting mix of her own natural illusion powers as well as a stronger and more resiliant body like that of a true fae. Though the transformation lost her the magic sight, she gained morphing abilities that allow her to create real weapons.

Etain is very beautiful but her beauty is covered and tarnished by years on the streets. She usually wears ragged and old clothing from wherever she can find them. Usually it's pants and lots of layering. Her hair has been cut up to the neck since it gets in the way and she often cast illusions that she's a boy instead of a girl because of her status as a cursed child. When pretending to be a boy she usually goes by Evan or Emmett.

Power Descriptions:

Being raised by fae, her powers are deeply seated in her ability to create glamour or illusions. However, as she is still only human, she cannot alter her physical form with glamour and her illusions are somewhat flawed as they cannot fool mirrors or technology. She can also follow the presence or trail of magic, and can see it on others as a sort of aura. It can be a bit troubling though, since if their is too much magic, it can blind or distract her from other sights and she can never not see it.

History:

Emmett Maher had a problem, the lifestyle he had grown accustomed too was dieing. He had been born and raised into wealth and luxury but his father died young and the inheretance greatly favored his older brother who was not too fond of sharing. The woman he married though delightful in her own way was in much the same situation, and the two of them couldn't keep things up. That was when he met her. Wandering through the forest she seemed like she knew exactly what she was looking for and she was carrying a baby. Tales had taught him to test and found that this was a fair folk away from their realm.

She wasn't terribly mean though, and they shared their stories. Her husband had insulted a higher noble by giving him a gift but not accepting one back. So the noble gave them a gift instead, the gift of luck to those around her who shared not the same blood. The catch was that it meant that those who did suffered great misfortune in her presense. She had tried to bargain with the noble to get it removed but couldn't get him to do so. It was a thorough gift as well because their families were very old there was at least a dozen people who would suffer misfortune simply because of distant relation and it began to start that they were plotting to find a way to kill the child for it's gift.

The woman said she was willing to make a trade, one blessed child for a human one who would in turn be equally blessed. She seemed reluctant to give up her child but to let it live a happy life seemed more important then to let it suffer death threats all the time. It was a temping offer, but not one Emmett didn't consider for a months time. However as the bills were catching up to him and the house was about to be taken from him in a month's time he took his own infant, only a few weeks old from his wifes sleeping form and made the secret trade in the dead of night.

Twelve years passed from that night, and Emmett kept his secret, that the child was not really theirs because their lives improved. He got work and wealth and seemed to be at the right place at the right time. His wife was always in good health, but for some reason the child never seemed happy. For a long time he didn't know why the child he called like the original name of the child he took away aways seemed shy and quiet at all the gatherings and bundled herself in her nice clothing even in the summer. He was busy too busy with his new life to notice, that was until Etain attacked his wife calling her a monster and managed to blind her with a spell. Emmett pulled the child aside and put her in cuffs asking what had happened and Etain told her story.

She wasn't the child he had been taken care of all this time, at closer inspection she was more well fed, her hair was longer and her eyes more lively and her voice more wise and firm. She was the child he had traded to Avalon and she was furious at her mother because while she had been treated nicely by her new family, her mother had noticed the trade even without him saying so and badly abused the Changeling they had gotten. This shocked Emmett, but not any more then the next thing she said,

"A life for a life, I was traded back and now the fae have seen what you have let happen. This house is cursed until those responsible make amends."

Emmett was horrified, but not as much as the other people present. Etain left the home but the rumors of the curse and the cursed child followed her wherever she went. People who knew little of the story just thought she was the cursed Changeling cast from the house, really that's how it spread since was easier and more believable that it was the fae's fault then the mother who treated the child badly. For five years Etain has been traveling away from those rumors, and looking for someplace new or maybe even a way back to the home she remembers in Avalon.

Personality & Motivation:

This worlds Etain is a lot more worldly and generally cynical. She's been in this world for five years and knows how it works and it really doesn't please her. She'll rarely give her name and will often pretend to be a boy or something else because of how devistating the crash of her blood family was apparently her name has been lifted to the status of a curse among higher circles.

She trusts very little, and smiles even less but she is still very willing to fight for those who get stepped on. The fate that befell her sister as she calls her made her almost always the first to jump into any mistreatment or misgivings about others, especially those of magical persuasion.

Powers & Tactics:

While the powers are about the same, she is way more direct in simply giving the blow and leaving. She's a cosumate liar by this point, as well as a pro con however so being deceitful in battle is no surprise if the first doesn't work.

Complications:

Cursed Child: Her unique name and status as the Changeling of Misfortune puts her in a situation where she hides almost everything about her including her name and gender. Her adversion to iron based products is very inconvient because of the savviness to fae people are.

Blinded by the Light: Etain can get dazzled by sites or persons who exude abnormally large amounts of magic.

Right Into The Fray: She has no qualms fighting individuals who cause any harm to others for little or no good reason, and will often jump into to fight before anything else.
