[IC] Tonight there's gonna be a Jailbreak

Synth [as Grunt]

["Stop! You'll kill them!"] demanded a shocked Synth in German

But was it so shocking? he had his suspicions about what was going on. Surely now they were confirmed? Someone was kidnapping him. From Blackstone!

NO authorised, legitimate operation would sanction Blackstone guards indiscriminately!

["Who are you? Answer me! And stop that shooting before I make you stop!"] he demanded, almost shouting. Partly it was fury, but partly one simply had to shout over the hail of gunfire.

While the man that had done most the talking so far continued to exchange fire with the two guards by the monorail station, the other aimed down his weapon, directly towards the security checkpoint that was standing between them and the elevators. He managed to hit this time, one of the guards falling backwards.

By now two automated turrets had appeared on the walls, and about 7 guards had streamed out, some taking cover inside the checkpoint, some behind boxes and specifically designed cover that surrounded the checkpoint. Some were already returning fire, many with pistols, a few with rifles of their own. The same as on the other side, the bullets just bounced off of the force-field.

He replied, also yelling out. [“This is what is safest for you!”]. Synth could see him about to pull the trigger, the one attached to the grenade launcher that was part of the rifle.

["But not for those guards!"] shouted Synth. With a lightning quick reaction, he grabbed the gun with both hands.

["They are just doing their jobs! You can't kill them! STOP!"] he demanded. He stepped into the man, slightly shoving him, and then twisted, ripping the gun full out of his hands.

He hadn't a clue how to use  guns. He didn't even know how to eject the clip. No use for guns. They were for killing, and he wasn't going to kill anyone. Or let them kill someone.

["You aren't going to kill anyone!"[ he said, firmly, and flung the rifle away with all his strength.

Swearing followed as the rifle left the man’s hands, and soon after landed on the floor just outside the forcefield, passing through without any issue. The man reacted quickly, drawing some sort of taser. His expression, already the more sinister of the two before, had now evolved to straight-up terrifying, the sort of look that didn’t communicate anything good to whoever was its target.

He had turned towards Synth, hiding his right hand behind his body. He was almost certainly holding something in it and concealing it. Whatever it was, he was ready to use it, too, as he held up his other arm in front of his body, ready to both attack and defend at a moment’s notice.

His companion had also turned towards Synth, just looking slightly annoyed, as if he’d been expecting it all along. He gave a quick sigh, before taking one hand off of his rifle and clicking a button somewhere on his arm. “You had to make it difficult, didn’t you?”

"I had to make it right" countered Synth. "You can't be agents of AEGIS, or the government. You aren't are you?" he insisted, with growing unease.

"Nobody would shoot on the guards. I can't say I like being locked up in Blackstone, but I know they do a tough job. A dangerous job. And, by and large, they do it well..."

Officer "Adolf" Gibbons aside...

"So the ruse is up! Who are you?"

“Take a guess, Fräulein.

He was an expert, clearly. The way he spoke his words, the way he pronounced them, all with a single goal. To throw his opponent, who was already within an arm’s reach, off guard.  And all it would take was Synth not being fully cautious for even the fraction of a second. And then, the attack happened. His movements revealed one thing above all else, he was highly trained. He controlled his body with ease, as his right arm shot forwards, revealing what he’d hidden before: a large knife.

He didn’t play around, instead lunging directly forward, striking directly forward, even dropping his taser to the floor to cause another slight distraction. Synth couldn’t do much about it, by the time he was ready to do anything, he could already feel the knife dig into him.

The other man wasn’t as direct. He seemed fairly calm, bullets hitting the forcefield behind him, as he began to speak. “We’ve had eyes on you for a long time … Dr. Nyberg, Ms. Snow or whatever else you go under right now. “

“You, and people you know. Mr. Bloom, Ms. Shaw, many others.  And we have our ways of doing things.”

“As parts of you should be well aware of.”

"SHADOW! I knew you would come sooner or later" answered Synth, full of fear now. Not just for himself, either. If SHADOW got their hands on her...he felt a cold clammy feeling ripple through her.

"No! Please!" he cried, gripped with dread.

He felt the knife in his back and the slow ooze of blood. It stung, but it galvanised him into action. He turned and grabbed the man. "I won't let you take me without a fight!" he muttered, although his confidence was severely shaken.

“Your choice. You’re coming with us either way. “

The man, in turn, grabbed back, before ducking under Synth’s arm and rising back up, freeing himself through the application of force to the right points, and through simply abusing the limits of what a (mostly) human body could do. He stared right into Synth’s eyes, the two of them now uncomfortably close, before ripping out the knife and slashing, hitting some systems Synth knew couldn’t withstand much damage.

Meanwhile, something seemed to happen beyond the forcefield. Between all the action it was hard to tell, but it had appeared that some more armoured prison guards had arrived, and were bringing some sort of cannon to deal with the forcefield. The agent who was still at a distance seemed to realize as much, as he charged forward, and grabbed what appeared to be yet another grenade from a pouch, about to throw it towards the approaching guards.

Synth felt the knife in his spleen, and then in his lung. He coughed blood and sank to his knees.

"That all you ghlottt?" he asked, clutching his organs as blood bubbled in his throat. This was bad. He could barely stand. To make matters worse, he could feel something soporific hit his blood system. Poison? Maybe. Hard to tell.

He was not a proud man, but getting gutted like a fish by two punks was a bit of a blow. He was out of practice. Unsure. Uncertain.

Should have acted sooner.

"Where are you taking meghhghgh?" he gurgled. He wasn't dying, not yet. But he was done, and they could see it.

Synth could feel the weakness overtake his body. Faster than any kind of injury should have had, there had to be something more to the attacks. Either way it did not matter much, as he could no longer properly move his body and collapsed on the ground, barely able to move at all, even if he could just about keep conscious.

It was difficult to see anything, as if he’d just woken up, but he could still catch parts of what was going on. The heavy armoured guards were approaching, and moved to the side, as an explosion rocked the area, leaving a fast-burning flame where it had hit, with two fo the armoured guards not moving at all at this point, and one falling back as quickly as he could.

And then, everything got even louder. Even if everything was a lot more quiet than usual, this was loud. Sirens, and red flashing lights, it was painful on both eyes and ears. Not that it mattered much for Synth at this point. Then, there was another bright light. Was it immediately after, or was there some time in between? Synth couldn’t tell.

He could feel one of the men pick him up and hoist him over his shoulders, as suddenly the only thing Synth could see was the ground. And with that, the man moved forward, Synth still unable to move his limbs beyond some trembling…

Synth [as grunt]

Synth coughed. He felt blood in his mouth. Every breath was ragged and jagged, with a lancing pain in his lung.

"Schum rescue...." he gurgled as a faint whisper.

He was just done. For now. He could only hope that someone would stop these agents of SHADOW.

"Help! Help!" he shouted. It wasn't very loud. Certainly more quiet than the gunfire. It was almost certainly going to do nothing but exhaust his shredded lungs. But it made him feel better.

If only he was not so weak. He could focus his synthetic cells to try and patch himself up, but it might make him pass out. He needed a little breather, right now.

"Where are you taking me?" he asked his captors, not really expecting an answer, and all the time trying to keep conscious and alert. Maybe some small clue or opportunity might present itself...

There was a smell of burning in the air. Fire, smoke, gunpowder. And blood. It was hard to see anything, but the smell told more than enough. Whatever had just happened, perhaps not seeing it was for the best. Slipping in and out of full consciousness, Synth could hear something being said over the prison’s intercom.

“Cells … escape … all available … lower levels … casualties ...”

He could hear what probably was shouting in the background, before it all got quiet. They had moved all during it, and were now in what seemed to be a small room. Neither of them spoke anything, as if they knew what they had to do without any words. A sudden jolt of movement revealed that it was the elevator. Judging by the change in muscle tension, the man carrying him now felt safe.

Now was the time, and the time, surely, was now. Synthetic cells had knitted back together, and he could breath again without choking on his own blood.

And besides, if they were heading upwards, nearer the exit.

But a daring thought struck him; perhaps he could use this breakout to escape. He was surely safer off the radar than in Blackstone, and in any case, Blackstone was no way to live. A careful balancing of risks --- and hard to juggle in the heat of battle. Still, the thought was there and it would not be unbidden.

He slipped around the guard with alarming speed, and his arms writhed into a rear chokehold.

"Goodnight, sweetheart!" he taunted, giving the man a cheeky kiss as he squeezed. And in doing so, flooded his muscles with synthetic cells to the point the uniform ripped as engorged swollen muscles expanded. He looked like a bag of walnuts.

"Its going to kick off now!" he grunted to the other agent, punching out his foot...

Synth managed to catch both of them completely off-guard. He’d already locked in his grip by the time either of them got to respond. And while the man was struggling, he didn’t accomplish anything of note, all the while slowly growing weaker. The second man had just about realized the situation by the time Synth attacked him, and didn’t manage to dodge it, even if the damage seemed minimal, he was still standing upright and looking ready to strike back.

It was an elevator after all. A fairly large one, but it still meant that everything was in arm’s reach of each other. Which probably was a good thing, in this case. It clearly was moving upwards, but it was doing so fairly slowly.

And then, Synth could feel how the man in his grip fainted. At about the same time as he could see an elbow, coming directly at him. And while he wasn’t actively gripping anymore, he was still on the ground, unable to properly avoid the attack, having it connect.

Synth but heard and felt the crunch of his nose as the elbow collided with it. He could feel the massive swelling of blood congest his nose and spill to his lips.

"Ha! I  bruised your elbow pretty good with my nose!" he managed to spit out as he slumped to the wall.

"Is that all you got? Come on, Ill bruise your other elbow with my kidneys!" he added, as blood flowed freely from his surely broken nose. He didn't reach up to stem the flow. He had plenty of blood, after all. But still, he was in the meat grinder today.

And now even with his usually acute smell he couldn't smell a bloody thing. Just blood.

The man’s only real response was to cock his head, as his expression turned from serious and stoic to that of a sick smile. One that was evil from the core up. He slowly walked up to Synth, clearly enjoying the moment. The blood dripping down Synth’s face was scattered all across the elevator as a nasty back-hand connected with his face.

But the man wasn’t done yet. Before Synth had time to do anything more, he’d already followed up. Synth could only feel the foot connecting with his temple, and then everything shook for a moment, as he found himself thrown along the wall, into the elevator’s corner. And the agent wasn’t done yet, already moving in to continue his brutal beatdown.

Synth [As Grunt]

Synth took a moment to straighten his nose. Septum gone sideways....

The man was more skilled than he was. Synth didn't really know martial arts, although he knew every pressure point in the body. But Synth was stronger, and faster. Not fast enough, right now.

"I can take that all day. Should have brought more of your crew, SHADOW man" he said defiantly.

With a burst of speed, he turned and walked up the wall of the elevator, jumping against the wall, spinning, flipping, and in the blink of an eye he was behind the man, crouched in a perfect landing.

And ready to bear hug the man...
