  1. Almánzar’s Bar, Lincoln, Freedom City 2nd October 2020 It wasn’t much of a bar, it wasn’t even a particularly cool bar where the kind of people he modelled himself, it was just a blue collar bar where people just had a few drinks after a hard days work. It was just a place that he could be the big man and even if they didn’t like him, and she already knew that he wasn’t particularly popular no more than a bully of the block. Still he had an ego and that was something she could work with. He in this case was a low level hood with powers, calling himself Para LX, who lucked into some sort of light based powers obvious for the green glow that surrounded him lighting up the entire booth holding court for anyone who would pay attention. The perfect for her methods of subterfuge, so time to make an entrance.
  2. GM August 20, 2019 A barrier island off the coast of Freedom City 6:00 AM This was it, the fateful hour. The morning fog rolled over the barrier island, the waves calm. Rising up from the island’s rocky surface was the vessel that would take the fateful group up to the Moon: The Peregrine. Standing tall as a building, it looked like a rocket ship out of Buck Rogers, tall and thin and cast in chrome. An extendable stairway lead into its interior, inviting the people on the surface to step inside. In front, a crowd of heroes had gathered, dressed in space-suits. Rachel stood out front of the Peregrine, dressed in a labcoat and holding a datapad that she was going over intently. She paced, occasionally looking at the heroes, then at the rocketship. She sighed sharply through her nose, then nodded to herself. Stowing the datapad, she clapped her hands together. “Alright! So, I’ve quintuple checked everything, and it looks like we’re cleared to go. Just some things to cover. Flight up to orbit is going to take 3 hours, then making it to the Moon will take another hour You won’t have to do anything for the first bit, I’ve installed a guidance system. One reinforced against psychic interference, this time. However, our pilot,” she said, looking over to Black Mamba, “will have to guide it down to the surface. I’ve deliberately made the controls easy and familiar, so you shouldn’t have any problems. If you’re attacked, I’ve installed Photon Cannons. However, I would be careful, if you fire them in our atmosphere you could cause a fireball. The firing mechanism is very clearly labeled.” She gestured at their space-suits, red ones that were similarly retro. “Your space-suits are state-of-the-art and tailored to what I know about your powers so you can use them. For example, Fast-Forward’s suit has been implanted with a reactive graviton array that will allow him to use his speed powers as though he was in normal gravity. Similarly, I’ve developed a field generator that should allow Archer to use his bow and arrows effectively. The same goes for the rest of you. I’ve tried to account for everything. More than that, your suits have a nano-array that should allow them to quickly seal if you’re hit, so no worries about suffocation. There are limits, though. Take too much damage and the nano-array won’t have enough material to repair. Life support is good for 72 hours, so if for some reason you get blown away into space, we have time to retrieve you,” she said. “I will not be joining you up there, sadly. But I have an FTL-communication device set up that should mean I will be able to communicate with you instantaneously with you wherever you are, as long as you don’t all decide to like… visit Mars or something. Please don’t do that.” She paused, and then tilted her head. “Alright. Any questions?”
  3. OoC for the IC here. No rolls needed for now just a chance for the three to meet up.
  4. St. Romuald’s, Hardwick Park 10:00am, Tuesday, 23rd July 2019 In an area known for the dominance of one gang it was rare to find a place that managed to remain neutral, though no one would dare speak out, and until recently St Romuald had been known as neutral ground. Padre Miguel was a bear of a man who few would dare tussle with. That was until recently when suddenly and without rhyme or reason he began to subtly, and not so subtly, change. With everyone concerned about the other problems going on around Hardwick Park very few were paying any attention, but there were a few that were paying attention...
  5. Gilbert Ave, Hardwick Park 21:00 22nd July 2019 For the last few weeks Hardwick had been burning, and arsonist setting abandoned building of the area alight. Luck rather than skill had mean than no one's homes had been threatened. But as the weeks had gone by, and Bedlam police showed little interest in investigating, the person(s) involved had become bolder. Even the local gangs seemed to be unable to halt them. Apart from the locals no one seemed to be interested in investigating the fires, though perceptions can be deceiving. Bedlam might not have many heroes, but there were a few around and they tried their best to do there part.
  6. GM Bayview, Freedom City, USA July 27th, 10:00am Rachel Morgan would be a star employee at almost any other organization, but at ASTRO Labs, she was surrounded by all sorts of super-geniuses and was thus just one of many scientists. She had no personal workshop there, so when she wanted to tinker, she had to work at the one in her home. Which worked fine for her, she had many ideas she had no intention of monetizing. She had been kicked out of a few places thanks to problems with Home Owners Associations and late-night noise, so she had finally given up on attached homes and splurged on a solitary property in Bayview, where she could work in peace. She had the home specially built with sound-proofing in the basement so that she wouldn’t be bothered by any further noise complaints. Now, the most the Home Owners Associations mostly just bothered her about neglecting her lawn, which she promised herself she would fix the robot that mowed it for her soon. The house itself was unassuming, a fairly standard one-story building, built wide with a green tiled roof and with a cherry red electric car sitting out front. On a flag pole sat an American flag, and beneath it a pride flag. There was a porch, painted white, its front partially obscured by grass growing ever higher in front of it. The front door was protected by a screen in front of it, and a charming little welcome mat declared “I can see your underwear”. Yet in the place of a doorbell, there was a strange, HAL-looking piece of machinery. As the group approached, it chirped. “Hello there, I’m Garvey. Welcome to Ms. Morgan’s home. What’s your names, and what’s your reason for visiting?” Those with pop-culture affinities might have noticed it sounded quite a lot like Michael Caine. @Heritage @Electra @Tiffany Korta @Exaccus
  7. Freedom City Friday, July 26 5:58 PM Donahue’s Dockside Bar was not exactly the most glamorous of establishments. The outer walls were coated in flaking black paint, the sign that announced the bar’s name was a harsh neon red, and the windows were tinted in such a way that peering inside was at the very least difficult. On the steel front door was a sign which declared in hastily scrawled letters “closed for a private party”. The interior was not much better. The tables were made of old, battered wood, and the chairs had clearly seen better days. The lights were dim, as if to enhance the melancholic mood of anyone who happened to drink there regularly. The only thing really livening things up was a cloth-covered pair of tables, with a bright sign saying “free food - take what you like”. A few pieces sat under cloches, and the smell of hot sauce was strong in the air. Serena paced back and forth in front of the bar, rubbing at her temples. She was dressed in her Corona costume, a grey set of tights with black trunks and a leather jacket over top, along with a pair of welding goggles resting on her forehead. She sighed to herself. “Do you think anyone’s gonna show up?” she asked. Lester Donahue looked up from the glass he was polishing behind the bar. The muscle he had possessed in his teenage years had long ago turned to fat, and now an enormous belly hung in front of him, but he still possessed the orange fur and wet black nose that had come with the transformation that had given him inhuman levels of strength. He frowned at her, his yellow eyes following the superheroine as she moved back and forth. “It’s still two minutes to six, give’em time,” he said. “Besides, at least some of them are gonna show up for the free food alone, always do.” Serena looked over at him. “Well, that’s great but I kinda need superheroes.” Lester shrugged. “Superheroes like free food too. I mean, you’re mooching off of me right now,” he said with a slight smirk as he looked back down at his glass. Serena huffed. “Not mooching, I will pay you back.” Lester waved his hand at her dismissively. “Myaaaah, it’s fine. This is sticking it to Wu, it’s on me since I can’t uh… Well with my back injury and the heart condition…” Serena smiled sympathetically at him. “Thanks, Les.” Lester shrugged again. “Eh, it’s fine. EY! I think that’s the first person now!” he said, gaze drifting towards the window.
  8. So now that the Shrike has been approved, I'm thinking about having a grand opening sale at the new Silberman's location in the University Hill section of EC-OR. This would be an opportunity for any EC-based PCs to check out the new used books and records store in town, and meet Gretchen in their civilian identities. Sign up here if you're interested!
  9. Seeing Double Club, Lincoln, Freedom City 20:30 August 1st 2018 Despite everything Freedom City endured! But even though the city itself had more or less returned to normally many people were still affected by the events of the last month and many were raising money to help those inflicted. One such place was Seeing Double which was nothing special, a warehouse converted into a club for at least a few nights aiming to donate it's earning to such charities. The unique thing about the staff was that everyone running the place, from the door to the bar, was exactly the same person Merge Trois.
  10. Silberman's Books, at the corner of Pratt and Frederick. Saturday, January 7th, 2017 10:30 am. With the panic and mayhem of another holiday season behind them, the crew at the West End's most popular used bookstore could finally breathe a collective sigh of relief. January was typically a month of austerity in the US, especially in the retail sector, which made it a good month to take stock and look back on the year that was, and begin serious planning for the year ahead. The decision to open earlier on weekdays and Saturdays, as well as offering breakfast sandwiches, meant major staffing adjustments and a lot more work for the openers. Despite the passing of the holiday rush, the store still need to hire a few more people. So far, the first Saturday morning was a success as the neighborhood discovered the new adjusted hours and menu items, but the store was just a little strained under the increased customer load. A number of Merges were on-site, though of course only one was currently behind the register; the others were either doing dishes or checking stock in back. Gretch was doing her best to 'play well with others' on bar while Lynn worked the floor, using her amazing social skills to good effect. As usual, the two lovers were going back and forth via mental communication, and as often was the case, it was playful and fairly snarky. I want you to list five things you like about Merge. Really? We're having this conversation? Five things. Fine. ...I'm waiting... She...always smells nice. Wow. Really, that's your opener? She does...cool stuff with her powers sometimes. Cute outfits and stuff...
  11. Lukēkā gā'um̐, Tibet Perched on the edge of a cliff overlooking a breathtaking series of mountains that didn’t quite seemed liked it did flying into the village seemed as classically tibetan as you could get. It seemed almost timeless as if it came fully formed from another century. The locals seemed to be unconcerned with the sudden arrival of stranger as if they see similar things or stranger, than them. It was easy to spot who they were here to see if you knew what to look for her features were the same as Merge, though a more natural beauty. And a lot more conservatively dressed in suitable gear for the cold temperatures of the village, sat at a sturdy wooden table a steaming mug of what smelled like coffee in front of her. Spotting the heroes she gave a smile a stood up to greet them both. “Hi there I’m Nicki. Please take a seat I’m sure you’ve got some questions to ask.”
  12. Nicki Dee Power Level: 10 [14] (165/219PP) Trade-Offs: None Unspent PP: 54 In Brief: To help her brother she become a criminal, now she trying to make up for that time. Alternate Identity: Merge Trois Identity: Secret Birthplace: Lincoln, Freedom City Occupation: Student Affiliations: Camera Obscura Family: Cheryl Dee (Mother), Tony Dee (Father), Dwayne Dee (Brother) Description: Age: 26 (DoB: December 9, 1992) Gender: Female Ethnicity: African-American Height: 5'4" Weight: 112 lbs. Eyes: Brown Hair: Black Nicki is an unremarkable looking woman, an image she works hard to maintain. Her clothes are fashionable, but off the peg, her hair cut helps hide her features and she taken to wearing glasses, though she doesn't need them. Power Descriptions: With a few moments concentration Nicki can call up her alter ego, Merge Trois, who can create copies of herself. Despite her name Merge Trois can produce an almost unlimited number or copies, though she often limits herself to three initially to confuse her foes. Whilst the Nicki and Merge are mentally linked, and Merge is driven by Nicki's desires, Merge can carry on independently of Nicki for an almost indefinite period. History: Growing up was often hard for the Dee family with her parents struggling to make end meets, this tension often led to heated arguments between Nicki parents. To escape this she created imaginary friends who she would spend hour happily playing with, her brother however escaped into alluring world of gangster rap and gang culture in general. Whilst Nicki studied hard to try and make a better life for herself and her family Dwayne fell into a life of petty crime and violence. Despite this Nicki care deeply for her brother who in his own way was always trying to look after and protect his little sister. For a while however things were okay the gang Dwayne ran with were pretty minor, happy to commit relatively low key crimes staying out of the way of the more powerful and violent gang and the notice of Lincoln resident supers. Then one day this all changed when a strange man offered the gang a chance for one big score. Nicki has never been sure exactly what happened as Dwayne came back changed. All of the gang were granted powers of some sort but Dwayne, who had volunteered to be lookout, came off the worst. As well as gaining the power to conceal him from all senses, he also gained the power to monitor and control all electronic devices as well as receive and transmit all broadcast frequencies. The problem was he can't turn the signals off and is constantly bombarded with the chatter of the electronic devices that fill our world. Whilst he can look after himself and following simple instructions, apart from occasional flash of his old self, Dwayne has been lost in the constant electronic noise. Her parents couldn't cope with what happened to their little boy and it fell on Nicki to take care of her big brother. Whilst doing that, and trying to complete her studies, she also started to make subtle inquiries about a cure for her brothers condition. Eventually she found somebody who was willing to help, but he warned her it would take massive amounts of money to achieve a cure. Luckily for her he could offer her powers, safe ones at that, which would allow her to gather this necessary money, for only a tiny addition to the total. Having exhausted all other options for a cure she reluctantly agreed asking for the type of power that would allow her to be in several places at the same time. Then she carefully began planning ways to earn the money necessary for his cure. Her short criminal career was successful and she managed to put by quite a bit of money for herself, her brother and her family. But it was with the help of the cities heroes that she managed to fine the help that her brother needed. Whilst her brother was recovering she retired from her brief criminal career, she even stopped being Merge for a while. But she missed the thrill of being Merge Trois and when the Freedom City was in crisis she decide to come out of her brief retirement and help her community. She hadn't consciously made the decision but now Merge is going to try to help Freedom City. Personality & Motivation: Whilst Nicki can come over as introverted she anything but shy and has, over the hard years of high school, learned to stay in the background and subtly manipulate people to get what she wants. Though Nicki is still inclined to use her abilities to just be left in peace she does now try to use them to help other people. Nicki has always had a strong moral code, she could never harm or kill anyone, and her career as a criminal hasn't changed her attitudes. She does however have a dim view of large corporations and banks, something her criminal career has only helped but be reinforce (though there are rare exceptions), she’ll make sure that people aren’t harmed but wouldn’t attempt to reduce property damage or the loss of earnings. Powers & Tactics: Whilst Merge prefers to use guile and cunning to avoid conflict if trouble starts she tend to rely in sheer strength of numbers to defeat her foes flooding the area with as many duplicates as she can. She also tend to avoid bringing Nicki into direct contact with the plan in hand, if possible she will remain a safe distance away and allow Merge to handle the situation herself. Complications: Freedom: No one knows that Nicki is Merge Trois, something that she works very hard to maintains. As far as possible they've try to maintain that they don't know each other, or at least only vaguely aware of each other. Right by My Side: Nicki feel responsible for her brother and will try to keep him safe and out of danger. Whilst she sometime uses him in her plans, if he's put into immediate danger she will put all her energies into protecting him. If made to choose between helping her brother and helping other's she naturally inclined to protect him first. Pound the Alarm: As far as law enforcement is concerned Merge Trois is still a wanted criminal, as well as a few of the Superhero community. Here choice of target's means she has little hassle for most beat cop's and detectives, but there always a few. Beez in the Trap: Merge's method of using other villains of for her own gain, as well her habit of getting revenge on those who tried to burn her, means that she has made quite a few enemies. The foundry in particular wish to get revenge on her for ruining one of their operations. 13. Silberman's Books. Monday, November 28th, 2016. 10:00 am. If you worked in retail, the holiday season was always stressful; it had a way of simultaneously bringing out the best and worst in people, and it seemed to go on forever. Since she'd reopened the store in 2014, owner Lynn Epstein had seen business steadily increase each year; their numbers were never going to be amazing, especially given her insistence on paying her employees a decent wage, but the fact that they weren't always operating at a loss made her happy. Of course, considering the large nest egg she'd brought back from Otherworld, she could afford to operate at a modest loss for years if necessary, and she wouldn't even mind; reopening Silberman's was never about making money. But if she didn't want her employees to rebel and hoist her from the yardarm, she desperately needed to hire some holiday help, and hopefully keep a few of them on permanently. Which wasn't always easy when you ran a store that had a whispered reputation for weird goings on... Since she'd put the ad up over the weekend, Lynn had already gotten several resumes via email, which she was currently reading over in her office; she had her 'power team' this morning, Lance on bar and Gretchen at the register. It was early yet, so it was mostly the coffee and newspaper crowd of old Jewish men from the neighnorhood, as well as one or two 'hipster beards' sipping their espresso as they checked their email on their Powerbooks. Need any help out there? No. We're good for now.
  14. GM Sunday, February 12th, 2017 Silberman’s Books, West End, Freedom City 2:34 PM It was a fairly busy day at Silbermann’s, Sundays usually were. Still, when all the sudden two people appeared out of nowhere outside, some eyebrows were raised. One of them was easy to recognize, self-pronounced Freedom’s HOTTEST newcomer and occasional guest Bonfire. As usual in streetwear, with his signature smoking head. The other one was more of a mystery. A hero in full costume, holding a pizza box in hand. They exchanged a few words before entering the store, with Bonfire (unsurprisingly) making a beeline to the counter, even if he had to wait for a few moments due to the line. - The police had arrived soon afterwards, and after turning over the two Dragons, and a few exchanged words, mainly the police thanking the two heroes, it was time to get coffee. Bonfire gave a few instructions, and then, he and Hyperactive were in the West End, in front of Silbermann’s Books. “There we go. Some of the best coffee in FC, and I know the owner.”

  16. Silberman’s Book’s It wasn’t unusual to see strange people in Freedom City, to a certain extent it was expected, but there was still times and places when strangely dressed people could still surprise. Such a person was boldly walking into Silberman’s books. She wasn’t particularly tall but tottering on heels she towered over most people in the store dressed in what costume shops would call Sex Librarian. Her hair was tied up into pig tails high of her head mostly blonde except for the tips that were the same tweed color as her jacket. She was also nonculatly chewing on bubble gum and occasionally blowing bubbles. Showing no interest in the books around her she went straight for the counter speaking to whoever was tending the till in a broad New Jersey accent. “Hi there I need to talk with you boss about something really important.â€
  17. 4th March 2013, around 10 am No one really paid much attention to Nicki as they sat listening to their lecture for the day. So no one noticed that she was dressed in a parody of the traditional Catholic Schoolgirl, a very short tartan skirt and a blouse tied in the middle, and her suddenly blonde hair tied into bunches. This was because the real Nicki was sat outside the offices of Summit Transnational watching again the video she had been aware off for only a couple of days. The video beginning with a close up of a teddy bear face who started to speak in a defiantly feminine voice.

Grier Ave, Lincoln, Freedom City “I’m not sure I quite understand?†the young woman sat bouncing a her baby on her knee staring dumbfounded at a piece of paper Nicki Dee sat there patiently looking for all the world like the perfect business woman in her plain dress suit and practical suitcase sat by her feet. She patiently explained the offer she had made not moment’s before. “It seems the business you previously work for made an error in his benefit’s I’m here to offer you the balance of what is owed.†“Are you sure about that?â€
  20. Freedom City University, North End 11th March 2013, around 10 am The Library Whilst the FCU library was a spacious modern structure taking up around a half dozen floors there were still, if you wanted, nooks and crannies where one could have yourself away. One such area was where the library storied the myriad of periodicals and thesis’s belonging to the Physics department. Whilst the depart itself had some of the most prodigious scientists in the world it wasn't the held in such large esteem as some of the other departments. So there more esoteric, scientifically speaking, documents were tucked away in one corner of the library.
