  1. Danger Manor North Bay, Freedom City Saturday, June 20, 2020. 10:23 AM The current academic year had recently ended at Claremont Academy, and for a change, Veronica did not have something that immediately needed her attention. This meant both she and her cousin, Janus, were able to spend some time at Danger Manor before they set off for any summer plans. Of course, given that allowing a pair of teenage Dangers to remain idle for too long was asking for trouble, the cousins had been set to work straightening up an attic in one of the wings of the large estate. Veronica climbed the last set of stairs that led up to the attic space in question, holding a LED camp lantern in one hand as she reached the top and began to look about the shadowy stacks of boxes, furniture and other objects that were illuminated by the lantern. "I remember coming up here during a game of hide and seek when we were eight." She said over her shoulder to her cousin. Moving further into the attic, Veronica went over to the nearest pile of boxes to start getting an idea of just how monumental this task might be. The teenage Danger was dressed in her typical attire, dark grey cargo shorts, an olive green T-shirt over which she wore a light brown thin linen shirt with the sleeves rolled up, along with her well-worn hiking boots. The brown haired Danger had been a bit more quiet than normal since the end of the school year. Of course, that might have something to do with the fact that during the last week of school Veronica had ended her relationship with a graduating Senior from North Bay Academy whom she had started dating before the winter break.

    Helpless

The Summer had hardly been uneventful but despite a few close calls and a thorough condemnation for reckless risks and an equally thorough commendation for breaking up the ring of Daka Crystal thieves Kam and his friends had returned to Claremont Academy. They arrived in advance of the next year with time to catch up on the news of Freedom and more importantly perhaps share their own exploits. The late summer sun found several of them gathered for lunch in the central quad trading stories. Kam let out a bright laugh, "Then they spun her." he shook his head at the memory nodding at Janus and eyeing his sister with a teasing glint in his eyes, "At least half of that giggle was genuine." he prodded perhaps foolishly given her penchant for getting the upper hand in these wars of words. Looking directly at Elizabeth he smirked, "It was like something out of one of those teen musicals." he joked easily. It would likely be less funny when those pictures circulated to where their father uncovered them. Raising his hands the Dakanan prince deflected gamely, "I will grant it certainly got people's attention."
  3. GM Marmaris, Turkey Mid-July, 2019, 11:34 AM local time The small city of Marmaris, Turkey was nestled among low foothills along the southwestern coast of Turkey, not far from the Island of Rhoades. With long, beautiful beaches and clear blue waters, the city was one of the key resort towns along the section of the Turkish coast line known as the "Turkish Riviera," or the "Turquoise Coast." For most, the primary attraction of Marmaris was the city’s vibrant nightlife, and in particular the collection of nightclubs and discos along bar street. Out in the Marmaris harbor, a sleek sixty foot yacht was making its way towards the inner part of the harbor, easily blending in with the other similar yachts and large sailing ships that filled the harbor and marina. However, unlike the majority of the passengers on the other similar vessels, the four teenagers aboard this yacht were not here for the exciting nightlife, or at least not directly. During an investigation into the possible disappearance of Daka crystals from a border region of Dakana, the teenage children of the Dakana king and two members of the Danger family had uncovered a group of mercenaries smuggling crystals across the border. Information obtained from some of the captured mercenaries had revealed that other members of the mercenary group were planning to meet with some potential buyers in Marmaris the next day. So, the four teens had arranged for a non-descript yacht to transport them to the costal town, providing them an chance to blend in with the other summer tourists looking to enjoy the excitement of the city. The sun was staring to approach its mid-day zenith, and already the temperature was over a hundred degrees Fahrenheit. The nearby beaches were crowded with people and the harbor was busy with activity as the yacht slowly made its way in.
  4. Ace smiled to his Niece and Nibling as well as the Dakanan royals. "Almost there." he jovially offered as he turned back to the console in front of him. "I'm so glad you two and your friends found something to do this summer!" he excitedly exclaimed as he swung the Danger Jet in low over the waters of the Black Sea and engaged the jets stealth capabilities, the residents would not see them coming of that much they could be certain. The rocky shore of the, until recently, abandoned soviet era base was visible ahead and growing rapidly through the windshield. The squat towers of the base and low domes of bunkers almost hidden in the overgrown forest of the remote island in disputed territory. At least three soviet successor states claimed the island as sovereign territory, and the Russian federation still claimed ownership based on the military installation. Not that any exerted real control on the remote strip of land or its dilapidated cold war era buildings. Which is probably why their targets had chosen it as a base of operations in the first place. It certainly had made it all but impossible to get official clearance to investigate the resident organization on the island in the first place. Luckily for the occupants of the jet it this weeks Danger Family Motto was 'Better to beg forgiveness than ask permission' else Arsenal would be long gone after the setbacks in Dakana and Turkey. "You kids have everything you need? All packed?" Ace glanced over his shoulder to ask like a soccer mom dropping the kids off at camp or the mall for the afternoon. "You have coms you just call when you're ready to go and I'll be in to pick you up." he assured them as they broached the islands perimeter. Once assured all were ready he flipped the switch on the console before him and the klaxons rang out as the drop bay began to open in the floor for them to make the jump. The Danger patriarch gave the teens a thumbs up when they were in position signalling them to make the drop when ready. At the sign Kam dove fearlessly through the bay and as soon as he was clear pulled the low open chute dropping neatly into the clearing they had targeted on the west end of hte island where they could make their way to the installation itself unseen the hoped. On the ground he quickly gathered his chute and made for the treeline to wait for the others to complete their jumps.
  5. Utando wa Buibui, Dakana The Buibui Waridi, the Rose Spiders were a small clan that specialized in micro-engineering and nanotechnology, making medical scanners and other surgery equipment using Daka crystals in almost artistic ways. Recently there had been a few disturbing rumors that a few of their supplies of Daka crystal had been disappearing across the border. Such rumors had reached the ear of the Palace, though none had yet taken a look. There home town, Utando wa Buibui, was also on the way the lakeside Summer palace of the White Lions, where the two teenage children of the King were taking friends to enjoy the natural springs and (mostly) crocodile and hippo free waters for a few days of summer. How could they not take a few hours just to take a quick look into things, they had the entire summer to enjoy the lake after all...
  6. July 23, 2019: Late O'Clock at night (morning?) Janus Danger There were many common rooms, and certainly one closer to the dorm room that Janus shared with Veronica but this one had the advantage of line of sight to the door of Kam's dorm room. Janus was bored. Frightfully bored any time that they weren't training at the Espadas dojo but finding out exactly what could encourage Kam - the most rule abiding person that Janus may have ever met - to break curfew. Janus was almost entirely certain that it was a girl at this point. They'd been back for less than a week for the late summer session and by Janus' count, this was the third time that the prince had snuck out. Really, it was a time honored Claremont tradition to sneak out and do a bit of vigilante work on the side... just not one that Janus thought Kam would take part in. They were pleasantly surprised to be proven wrong. Janus stretched out on the couch, long legs dangling over the arm and absently scrolling through the phone while they waited. It wouldn't be long now. Janus bit back a yawn. Being tired through classes in the morning was absolutely worth it. When the window creaked open, Janus shifted to eye the Red Lynx from their position dangling upside down on the couch. "Welcome to the hallowed fraternity of Claremont rule breakers, your highness. So, who is she?"
  7. October 5th, 5pm The doors to the Doom Room hissed open as the various members of the recently formed Red Squad stepped towards the entrance. From inside the gathered teenagers found what appeared to be a stereotypical dojo, rice paper walls and wooden floors with banners hanging decoratively. Crickets chirped softly, the sound carried on a gentle breeze coming from an open doorway within the simulation to a forest outside the building. Standing by the woods, admiring the simulated sunset in her school issued costume, Gauss turned her head back to the group. "Hey guys, I see everyone got my notes. So, you guys remember when Headmistress Summers grouped us up together, I figured if we're going to be a team and competing together against pretty much the rest of the school we should probably have a formal meet up to get an idea of what everyone can do power wise, any skills or talents we bring to the table, all that good stuff."

  9. Saturday September Eighth 2018 10:00 AM Espadas School of Self-Defense and Swordsmanship But for the low hum of an electric motor and the tinted windows the Danger International fleet car that pulled to the curb a few car lengths from the Espadas Dojo was nondescript and would hardly elicit note from passer by. This was perhaps slightly less true about it's occupants. Before exiting the car Ace turned to his niece. "Alright so, as I said, he's the best, but also a little touchy about keeping a low profile." which was to say had a standing threat to stab Ace should he descend on his home with reporters again. "So uh, casual is hte rule I guess?" Low profile was really no more in Aces vocabulary than his companions, luckily this was actually nothing but a legitimate visit for the establishments actual purpose. That said the immortal adventurer hopped from the car and strode confidently up to the doors to the dojo slipping inside to await the proprietor, he'd even done the due diligence of arriving between scheduled classes.
  10. Claremont Academy. Third Floor, Rita Kord Dorm. September 4, 2018 10:05 am Lulu didn't have too much stuff to bring in; most of her clothes were still back at the Harrows' place across in North Bay, still in the boxes and bags from the mall. She was used to travelling light, carrying her most important belongings in ziplock bags tucked into a backpack and a gym bag. Growing up in rural Alabama, there were always floods or hurricanes or tropical storms that forced you to relocate for days at a time, pulling up stakes in a hurry as you grabbed some bottled water for the road. Most of the houses in Columbia were either trailers or simple uninsulated structures that were cheap to repair or rebuild. There was no real sense of permanence; God could wipe out everything you owned with a simple wave of His hand. But Freedom was very different; everything here was built to last, or even survive assault by supervillains. The walls and floors of Claremont were thick and well-worn, scuffed and polished by the passing of hundreds of youthful hands and feet. Everything was spotless and freshly-cleaned, yet you could still feel the history of the place. Lulu found room 309 with little difficulty, and stood in the doorway for several seconds as she took in the space that would be her academic home for the next three years. Two beds, two dressers and two desks in a pleasant, airy room that somehow managed not to smell like a hotel. She picked the left-hand bed at random, dropping her two bags next to it as she laid down on her back, staring up at the ceiling, idly flexing her sneakered feet this way and that. "Well...here we are."
  11. September 4, 2018 Claremont Academy (Third Floor, Rita Kord Dorm) Janus followed along, glancing at the numbers of the rooms as they passed each one in turn. The Danger scion had dressed 'down' recognizing that there would be a lot of hauling and unpacking from dark windowed car to the dormitory which meant that they only somewhat looked like some lost extra from an over-embellished k-pop video. Hair that faded from white to rose at the tips was pulled back in a tight braid that brushed the tightly laced leather pants. (Who wore leather pants in the late summer? A Danger, that's who.) The flouncy poets shirt had been cuffed back above leanly muscled forearms. Bright violet eyes cut to the sign. "Three-twelve. This is us, 'Ronnie." Like the androgynous features, Janus' smooth tenor didn't betray if the tall, slim individual was male or female, though their handsome features lent itself to an easily assumed pretty male. Shortening Veroncia's name with familial familiarity, Janus paused before apologizing as they well knew high school had an impact. If nothing else, Janus had seen all the high school movies while taking up space in Danger Manor over the summer. "Sorry, Veronica." Janus amended as they bumped the door open with one lean hip, "Habit."
  12. Janus Danger Power Level: 10/12 (182/192PP) Unspent Power Points: 10PP Trade-Offs: +2 Attack / -2 Damage, +2 Defense / -2 Toughness In Brief: Swashbuckling Scion with Something to Prove Catchphrase: Theme: Imagine Dragons - Thunder, Seanan McGuire - Earthquake Weather Alternate Identity: Janus Danger (Public, Prime), Prince Janus of Aruivia (Public, Freedom League Dimension Designation; Earth-O-Eldritch-2 (Allied), Local Designation: Fortuna) Birthplace: Wintershold, Capital of Aruivia. Residence: Claremont during the school year, Danger Manor when not in school or in Fortuna. Base of Operations: Claremont Occupation: Student Affiliations: Claremont, Danger Industries Family: Janus is the middle child of Queen Antigone of Aruivia and John Danger II. The Danger family tree grows more convoluted every year, especially with the predilection towards adventure that seems to run in the family. In Janus's case, it led to their father finding an entirely different dimension that he quickly found himself a destined hero in. Their immediate family remains in Fortuna but they visit the Prime-side relations at least a few times every year so they are reasonably close to their father's sister, Rachel, and the rest of the Danger diaspora. Description: Age: 16 Apparent Age: 16 Gender: presents masculine, uses they/them pronouns Ethnicity: Caucasian Height: 5' 10" Weight: 165 lbs Eyes: Violet Hair: White-blonde to rose-red ombre. Janus is lean and angular; fresh out being all legs and arms. They are definitely on the handsome end of the spectrum, with classic Danger good looks melding with the more exotic lines from their mother. Training and exercise has been part of their daily routine since they were old enough to toddle, so they have more balance and grace than a teenager fresh out of a growth spurt really ought to have and more muscle than might be guessed with their long, lean body. Janus dresses like something out of an early 1980s fantasy movie, a la David Bowie or perhaps like they are waiting to be called in for a Takarazuka Revue performance. It could look ridiculous but they wear it with the sort of casual confidence that kids of this world wear jeans and a cool jacket. Since migrating to Prime for schooling, Janus has pierced their ears several times, wearing silver hoops and studs to match the multitude of rings that they are rarely without. Over their right eye, Janus has a starburst shaped birthmark that has a silver-sheen. It glows along with their weapon when they draw out their soul sword. Janus dresses in high glam but masculine attire and is often wearing low heeled boots that add another couple of inches to their height. They are fond of Earth based cosmetics and often uses those to heighten and accentuate their already sharp cheekbones and striking eyes. History: During the mid 70s, Janus' father took his first trip to Fortuna, originally as a Freedom League affiliated envoy. John was already an experienced veteran of adventures but he found his true calling in helping restore Antigone to the thrown of Aruivia and, in time, they fell in love. Fortuna was significantly dissimilar from Earth. Although the magic of Fortuna fell more into the sword-and-sorcery arena than some of the more high-magic worlds, the dimension itself ran off the power of narratives. Stories have Power in Fortuna, as does belief. As the namesake and grandson of one of Prime's heroes, John brought that power with him to Fortuna, allowing him to form it into mystical weapons and armor. It was that power that he used to help Antigone and together, the two brought peace to the kingdom of Aruivia. Janus is the middle child of the couple. Their elder brother has their father's good looks and commanding presence, while he has their mother's sense of justice and compassion. As the crown prince, he's slated to take over the royal duties one day. Their younger sister embraces all that being a princess entails. Though still a child, she is kind and gracious and gifted with an emerging ability to forsee the future. Janus loves their siblings very much but as the middle, rebellious child, their place in Aruivia's story may take a darker bent as the narrative of the world presses on her to fit into expectations. It was with a heavy heart that their parents sent them to their father's relatives but it became clear that Janus's physical prowess was beginning to eclipse their older brother. They hope that free from the pressure of Fortuna, Janus can take their own path. Whether that will be the actual case, remains to be seen. Personality & Motivation: Janus is brash, bold and daring. They are both genuinely courageous and kind although they are often driven to prove their self. They think nothing of engaging in dramatics as its expected by the idiom of their native land. Despite often taking summers or vacations on Prime, they still retain a bit of a 'stranger in a strange land' vibe, especially as they make little to no effort to change their self to conform. Janus' primary motivation is to be true to their self, and find the Hero within. They wholeheartedly believe that their Soul Sword is a sign of their inner potential and that it is both their responsibility and their gift to bring it to its full potential. Unfortunately, this means that they can be both stubborn and defiant when dealing with any authority trying to push them to act outside their morals. Powers & Tactics: Janus' relies on their physical prowess. Trained to defend their self with sword and fist since they were young, they are skilled at hand to hand combat although they are most comfortable with a sword in their hand. They are a flashy fighter, in part because they have fought side by side most often with their brother who, as the heir to the throne, is more important. Janus has accompanied their father and brother on ogre hunting missions and the like since they were old enough to engage in live combat. Being as they are from the Danger family, that was definitely on the younger side. They are used to making them self a target to draw attention away; a tactic their sibling is not overly fond of. They have a natural gift for witty banter, one that has only grown since spending more time with their Danger relatives. In addition to being highly skilled, Janus can draw their soul sword from their breast if they deems the threat worthy of it. Eldritch armor covers their arm from shoulder to fingertip and a glowing blade forms in their hand, drawn from their own essence, providing them additional mystical protection and weaponry. Power Descriptions: Janus' world is one of magic; where the rules are proscribed by the power of tales and legends in the minds and hearts of the people. Their soul sword and the armor fluctuates depending on their sense of self, so as long as Janus' heart is pure, the magic glows silver-white and the manifestations are solid and strong. At the moment, their power covers their shoulder down to their fingertips in armor and manifests in a single blade. It is possible that they might make different energy constructs with time and practice. Should they change or falter, the magic will manifest differently. Complications: Oh Fortuna: Janus carries with them the power of their mother's world but that is a world with its own beliefs and structure. Those are rules they have to follow. Self-doubt or despair weakens their mystical abilities and, in moments of true crisis, could render them without those powers entirely. Fame: Although there are a lot of perks with taking on some of the face of Danger Media, sometimes being a public figure can cause real problems not only for Janus, but for those they call friends. Responsibilities: Not only does Janus have a title and public duties when they are home, but they are a member of the Danger family. Not only does that mean they inherits some of the considerable enemies that the family has made over the years, but it means that in addition to school, they have whatever responsibilities to their family and their businesses that might come up. You are late for your one o’clock meeting! As one of the family representatives of Danger International in Freedom City, Veronica and her cousin have been assigned a personal assistant, Prudence, who has the daunting task of trying to keep the two Danger cousins on schedule.
