  1. I am very sorry that I have been away. I hope to change this very soon. My husband is between jobs and I am working far too many hours at the moment to cover. So my free time has gone to nothing. He has irons in the fire and I hope that this changes soon as I'm going kind of crazy with the hours. I am really really sorry and if I'm holding anyone up, please move on without me for the moment.
  2. Right... we are back in time to get some initiative! Roll them up! You get a surprise round where they are flat footed.
  3. GM Inside, the shack was actually decently decked out. The walls were covered with cheap paneling in an attempt to make the moderately sized space look more like a club, which it surprisingly did. There was enough space for two tables and a makeshift bar area which sported a small counter and a decent stock of hard liquor stacked on the back wall. Some shelves adorned the far wall and everything from laptops and cell phones to jewelry was haphazardly stacked in piles in a scheme that made no immediate sense to the heroes. Eight different people were scattered around the table and the bar, each of them sporting a denim coat with a mammoth logo plastered on the back. If they were trying to be low key, that was certainly an easy method to identify them. At one of the tables, there were four members who appeared to be dicing over a small purse, some money and a cell phone, which lay in the middle of the table. On the ground was a middle aged woman with auburn hair which was slowly turning to grey. She was battered and cut in several spots and seemed to be desperately trying to administer some kind of futile first aid. However, her skin was pale and it didn't take a doctor to realize that she was likely in real trouble. As Rev burst in, exploding the makeshift door into splinters, the was a shocked silence before one of the thugs at the bar turned and looked back, "oh nuts! That's the two I was telling you about! I said this was a bad idea and none of you wanted to listen."
  4. GM It didn't take a whole lot of sleuthing to hear multiple voices from the shack. They were laughing and joking with each other, sounding like perhaps they were dicing for something. "Dude, it's not your roll, you already took one!" "Yeah?" replied someone different, "I was the one that got this crap, so I get an extra. I ain't going out on snake eyes." "Shove it, the rules are the rules. We's all Mammoths and just 'cause you brought it all here, don't mean that you roll 'till you get what you want!" The crowd of shoppers had grown to about a dozen, most of them filming and chatting excitedly to each other. It seemed that they had a good idea on who was in the shed and any fear of the massive bear in the parking lot was completely replaced by the opportunity to get a once in a lifetime Facebook update! There was some more arguing in what appeared to be perhaps a half dozen other people in the shed. Rev and Jack might have been able to write the entire thing off as some kind of harmless party until they heard a very distinct voice. It was a woman, who could barely be heard over the shouting and joking. The voice was one they recognized from the TV of a woman whom had lost her "battle" in spectacular fashion, "please... you can have it all. Just let me leave and get to a hospital... please..."
  5. That would be some diplomacy! Charm the pants off her: 1d20+6=24 Woo hoo! Spy's are charming!
  6. SFX Well... there was another first for her. She realized, surprised that for a change, she was not the one looking awkwardly at someone else. She wondered if she looked like that when she got flustered and concluded that she probably did. While she was talking, she was actually impressed by the feedback her nanites were giving on the small aerodynamic weapon that Tony seemed very fixated on. If he had designed it, he knew what he was doing. The pitch and angle of the blades were as optimal as they were going to get and weighting was practically sublime. "Hey, relax, it's no big. I get it. You're focused. If anyone had asked me what I liked before I got here, I probably would have struggled too. I guess I just got lucky having a really cool roomie who pretty much not only drags me out of my shell, but manages to shatter the whole thing in the process. She's not someone you say no to easily!" Picking up the boomerang again, she handed it back to him. On the counter, an inert replica of his boomerang began to appear, materializing layer by layer, "it's pretty impressive. I can see why you've obsessed. But... take it from me, a fellow obsessionist, take some time and enjoy some other things in life too. Walks in the park, or whatever, aren't going to get you in college at the top of your class, but they will keep you sane."
  7. SFX Zhu gave a nervous laugh, "active nanintes... um... that's probably not a false reading. Um... so there's not... um... a regulation against them is there?" She shook Sitara's hand trying to appear more confident than she suddenly felt. "I mean... it's very nice to meet you Ma'am... and um... I might be reason for your reading. But they're really pretty harmless. Well not harmless, but they're under my control. It was an invention that I came up with." She hoped that the woman wasn't mad at her, because she sensed a kindred spirit as she took in her jumpsuit and the obvious signs of working on the myriad machines that Zhu had seen on her way to the ship. Letting go of Sitara's hand, she gave her a smile, "I um... was hoping to find out about some of the communication protocols and maybe learn about anything you want to explain to me."
  8. SFX Alexa looked at the coffee embarrassed, she had gotten more than a little ahead of herself. But she really did get exited when she talked about her videos and with how busy things had started to become at school, she missed the time she had been able to spend on it in China. Taking a deep breath, she forced herself to sit back down, "we can wait here while you finish. Really, nothing is going to go anywhere while you finish your coffee. I get... excited. Probably far too often and I love showing off. Well, showing off my props and things like that. I'm a little more shy when it comes to showing off myself. Wait, I mean, like being in the spotlight. I'm not an exhibitionist or anything!" Covering her face with her hands, she groaned, when she got flustered her mouth often got the better of her. Looking up at Moira, she shook her head and gave her a silly grin. "Why don't we talk about you for a bit. I'll try not to put my foot in my mouth then... how long have you been acting?"
  9. SFX "Oh, well I didn't just mean Earth... I mean, I'm very grateful if you did... but more that you'd offer up your life and service to help people in general. That's really wonderful and it makes me think about how I want to be in my life," she replied to Seresk before she was introduced to Sitara. It did take her more than a moment to respond as she looked at the impressive ship and all of the cool looking machines there. She could feel them, at the edge of her conscious and she was reasonably sure that she could work them. The issue was that it was similar to speaking another language and she wasn't sure exactly what she would be doing. Still, the impressive tech that was built into the ship made her giddy as she introduced herself. "Hello..." she said, "I... well I don't know what to say. I've seen some very impressive machines before, but this... wow... did you make it all?" As she spoke, her botnet fanned out around her, taking measurements and analyzing everything they could. The data coming back was amazing and it was something that she was going to have to think about and study for a very long time to come.
  10. Joule Joule looked behind her at the commotion, then shrugged trying to feign indifference, "da. Food is being better than watching stupid boys being fighted by superheros. Am sure there will be other fights when not being hungry." She pulled out a few crumpled dollars as she leaned up against the food truck and unceremoniously tossed them on the counter, "will be having fried cheese bits and burger very please." Hearing the commotion behind her, she really really wanted to turn around, but she forced herself to wait hoping Doris would begin making the food, "so... perhaps may be seeing of things in area beyond this fight, no? Truck is in good place for this." To emphasize her point, she pulled out her last $20 from her pocket and set it on the counter with her finger stabbing the middle of the bill. She tilted her head and gave Doris a questioning look.
  11. SFX Zhu gave Moira a sly smile, "well... it's a bit of a trade secret." Then she paused and shrugged, "I mean, I can show you, but you have to promise not to disclose it. I really want to do this professionally and I can't let all my secrets out just yet!" She finished her hot Chocolate, obviously excitied by the prospect of telling someone about how she did her work. In fact, she was practially bubbling over with her desire to show the elegant woman in front of her how they would go about making all of the scenes become reality. Giving her a shy look, she finally said, "would you like to come over to campus and I'll show you? It's really cool!"
  12. SFX Sometimes fate had a way of working things out. The problem with poking a bear was when the bear decided that it didn't like being poked. While it had felt really good to toss back an insult at the jerk in front of her, when he looked like he was abut to hit her, she knew she was in trouble. The whole point of this mission was to not be noticed and find things out. It would be pretty obvious if she let her nanites protect her that she didn't belong here. Thankfully, something was going on and he ignored her turning to the weapons along with several others around her. Why did they have to speak Cantonese! She cursed to herself as she quickly executed the stored procedure for the Botnet. Instantly the invisible machines began to work on the wall, extruding out material and wrapping around barrels, stocks and triggers; holding as many as she could reach tight against the wall. It wasn't simple stuff, and she had to stand still and concentrate to get the code just right. Still, it would hopefully come as quite a shock to the punks.
  13. SFX That was humbling. Everything they knew was long gone to the ashes of history, yet they still served and offered their protection willingly. It was a lesson that was very eye opening. She walked in silence for a moment, the looked up at the giant Lizard warrior. "Thank you," she said sincerely and quietly, "I guess few of us on Earth even know the things you're doing to keep us safe. It sounds both lonely and dangerous, what you do, that is." While they were walking she was taking samples of the wireless spectrums, while she couldn't understand any of it, at least it was something she could analyze later. It was something that she did without really even thinking and didn't distract her from her massive guardian. "I hope that you've been able to find others of your kind... or people to make a new life with. I can't imagine waking up 2000 years from now."
  14. \o/ complications for the win! Also, so fitting. Full Action: Create Object 9. Using that to seal as many of the weapons to the wall as possible. I don't care that the object is visible, I just imagine the wall warping out and enveloping as many weapons as she can get. Free Action: None Move Action: None
  15. SFX Zhu froze as she was about to enter the room to see all the cool holograms. Suddenly she felt the weight and solemnity of the room as she looked at all the members who were rendered in the cold bath of a light rendering their form. Then there was the aspect of the time scales. It wasn't surprising that they had existed longer than Earth, but finding out that the person she was talking too had been alive at the time of the Han Dynasty was something amazing. That they all had was humbling. Her culture often took its long and proud history as a point of pride. Hearing about millennia of service casually bantered about made her realize there was so much to learn. "I think... maybe that I can wait on looking at those. I'm not sure looking at the memorials of your heroes to see how the pretty holograms were creating would really be appropriate. I would like to see this room, but perhaps when I have some time to properly digest it and show the respect that it deserves." She waited until he started walked her towards wherever Traveler was before talking again, "so you were there when that happened?"
  16. Not sure when I can react, but as people go for guns, I'd like to be doing some snare things and then plug weapons and all that
  17. SFX Zhu was walking on cloud nine as she looked through the various chambers and buildings that she passed. Her phone now had multiple selfies with some of the most famous heroes the world... universe had ever known! The best ones included her and Rev and they were definitely going to be replicated to a million different spots so she wouldn't lose them. Add that to a pair of autographs and this valentines day couldn't get any better. Well, she mussed, perhaps some kind of date with Taylor Lautner, but that was probably getting more than a little ahead of herself. Still it was Valentine's day, so a little wish for romance wasn't totally wrong! As they walked she tried her best to memorize everything she saw, but as they were walking she actually stopped dead in her tracks. "Excuse me... I know we're going to go see Traveller, but what's in that room? I mean... I do a lot of things with holograms and I'd love to see ways to make mine better."
  18. SFX Zhu giggled and nodded, while this wasn't the strangest conversation she had ever had, it qualified in the top 10. Still, it was not unusual for people at Claremont to fixate on their abilities and what he had invented certainly seemed pretty cool. Setting the boomerang on the counter, she turned back to him. Her invisible cloud of Nanites were busy scanning it and giving her a very detailed explanation as to what it was about and how it was made. That was something she really appreciated since eyes and natural senses were only so good. "Well that's pretty cool, what else do you like doing?" she asked. "I mean, I'm really into movies and I love dancing. Then pretty much anything with a computer too, but that kind of borders on obsession for me."
  19. SFX For a moment she had visions of the end of the first Star Wars movie... or was it the fourth? Well no matter, she could picture a room of people cheering and shouting as she and Rev walked up to get their reward for a job well done. Of course Rev's reward wasn't in galactic credits, but in Cherry Bomb lollipops, which she seemed to have quite the addiction too. It did seem that Paradigm was offering to give them support, although that could be construed to mean a number of things. Probably best not to push things too much. Still... she couldn't help herself when she asked, "um, yes, would it be possible to get some selfies with you? ...and maybe an autograph? I mean, I know that sounds weird, but this is really kind of cool to meet all of you." She paused and hemmed and hawed for a moment, "and if it wouldn't be too much trouble, I'd love to get a spec on whatever protocol serves as wireless communications here. Maybe some kind of translation matrix so I can write some software to compensate." She gave all of them a wide smile, hoping that wasn't pushing things too far.
  20. GM As they moved through the parking lot, Rev did her best to assure the patrons that Jack would not eat them and was indeed a normal sight. While the cheerful heroine helped a lot, she inadvertently caused another problem as several of the shoppers decided that this was either a publicity stunt, or super hero action and as the duo proceeded around the back, they had at least a half dozen curious shoppers with their phones out filming the very odd sight. Around the back of the complex, there was a large fence which separated out some low rent multi flat apartments from the alley behind the center. Multiple dumpsters and piles of pallets littered the alley as well as a couple of smaller shipping trucks. Looking around the alley, Jack's keen senses led him towards an odd looking shed that appeared to have been some kind of utility structure at one point, but since had been converted into a makeshift club house. They could hear some people laughing in the medium sized shed and there was little doubt that the people inside were likely the same as the thugs from the bowling alley.

  22. "Thank you!" she replied with a smile to his compliment. It was always nice to have someone look over her inventions and give positive critique. She then sighed, "I do know what you mean by the lack of guys in this years class. It can be a little discouraging at times. I mean, I could tell you about my Valentine's day, but let's just say it wasn't very conventional... or romantic." For a moment, a sly smile crept onto her face as she shared some personal memory of the event. "But, I guess that's okay anyway. I mean, I'm here to study and the other stuff is kind of secondary. Still, you might end up with a roommate, give it some time. If not, next fall there's a whole new class that will be coming in." Checking a few settings on the machine, she keyed a few commands into it then turned back to Rang, gave him an appraising look, "so... I'm guessing you use the boomerangs for more than sport? I mean, you don't have to answer, but it does seem a lot of students here manage to get into a little bit of trouble from time to time. Me... well, I'm hopeless at throwing things and I prefer not to fight. So, science kind of had to be my thing, right?"
  23. Joule Alyia really wanted to know the trick to get the sticky note attached to her, but that would have to wait for another day. Because, like something out of a sci fi movie, one of the most gorgeous examples of Egyptian radiance descended upon them. For a moment she was stunned, although it was in part because of her over the top speech as much as her looks. Which, if Alyia thought about it, probably would have gotten her at least a couple of places at her last Worlds. Whispering to herself, "is never hearing of city being called fair..." she smiled as she waited until people moved towards the very showy deity. With all eyes and perhaps anger directed at Lady Horus, Joule quietly walked slowly along the building line looking, and smelling, to find this greasy spoon that her friend in the gym had told her about. With any luck she could get some information before either everyone was rendered unconscious, or someone or someones found her and tried to put a stop to her snooping. Keeping eyes sharp, she could only imagine the chaos behind her as she looked for the lady with her curds and burgers.
