  1. Here's a Bluff check for Gallant hiding his discomfort. Feel free to subtract the Attractive Bonus as needed. Also I didn't apply a group penalty since that doesn't seem to be listed in the book, so I guess apply that as needed as well? 43
  2. Gallant leaned on his chair, smile dimming slightly as he took in the fact that a doppelganger had replaced him. The faint, soundless voices in his head chittered, in ironic bemusement, irritation, and...hunger, apparently. The thought of some stranger with his face, pretending he was as Gallant as Gallant, interacting with his dear sisters... His hold on the chair tightened slightly as he turned toward the man in white and the bodysuited man in dark. Righting his posture and nigh instantly attempting to sheathe his discomfort, he spoke. "As you both say, we should attempt peace with these fair folk first before resorting to more tried and true methods. As fun as a good brawl can be, we must make care to ensure our strength is turned onto the truly unjust!" Piece spoken, Gallant turned back toward the Empress. "I, however, would like to make a small request, Fair Madame Empress. After our briefing is completed, might I have a chance to speak with one of your noble officers a small bit before we make haste for grand adventure?"
  3. True enough, either would do as an impromptu bus. I went with Hyperactive simply because the two have already met, assuming this takes place after Empire of emerald and jade.
  4. Problem of transportation solved, per PM approval. Hyperactive can ferry Gallant over.
  5. Choosing to continue standing, for sitting still made him a mite uncomfortable, Gallant smiled at his fellow hero who's name he knew not before turning his grin to the Empress. "Right he is Madame Empress! With an adventure so important that it stretched beyond the veil of reality, how could we refuse?" He made to bow, before shufflling and making for a traditional salute, before shuffling again to press his arm against his chest, before finally halting, instead placing his arms at his back. "I'm afraid I am unaware of the customs of your fiefdom. Perhaps Madame Howard could educate me later..."
  6. I'd be happy to join the storm thread. Only problem I can find is that Gallant and Miracle Girl fulfill the same role, heck, they even both glow.
  7. First dice I ever roll here, I suppose. Hope I do it right. Using my Bluff to oppose Gabriel's Bluff sans my Attractive Bonus. 38
  8. Internally, Leon felt his temper flair a small bit as the girl in front of him (younger than he was!) condescended to him like a three year old. But she would be gone in like one minute, and besides that it just wasn't worth getting annoyed over. Let her be smarmy somewhere else. "Oh, I was just joking, Miss Wei. I don't actually think you're a, a mad scientist or anything." Outwardly, Leon chuckled sheepishly as he took the money from the girl's hand, shuffling quickly through the check out process. As the girl stated her friendship with the book's author, however, he halted and blinked. "That's, uh, really cool, Miss Wei, but the time scale seems a bit..." He gnawed on his lip and resumed placing the money in the register, hoping she hadn't noticed his muttering.
  9. "No questions here, Madame Howard. Though I will say say I'm feeling a small smattering of butterflies flitting in my chest. I've never had the pleasure of meeting royalty before!" Chuckling softly and rubbing the back of his head sheepishly, Gallant shuffled about the room, taking it all in. Intending to offer a sign of camaraderie with his companions to be, but lacking knowledge of any of the myriad folk in the building, Gallant simply flashed his most warm and charming smile at all those he passed.
  10. Gallant narrowed his eyes at the mention of his sisters, though his smile did not drop. He would have to figure that out later. "I would be delighted to help on any heroic matters, Madame Howard!" He glanced about the area, noting that the officers in question appeared to be trying to shrink into themselves. "Your friends seem cowed, for the moment. Should we go pick them up, or will you be detailing my quest right here?"
  11. Leon flinched momentarily at the way the girl appraised him, like she had judged him unworthy. He spoke up once more, voice a little quieter "I-I was aware of the request, yeah. You don't need to worry about me scrambling around back there for the book-" He thumbed over to the quickly darkening shelves to his right."-we actually have a little system in place for reserves." His breath finally caught and a small amount of his composure restored, Leon gingerly plucked the ID from the girl's hand before reaching down behind the counter, pulling open a small box marked 'Reserves'. As he shuffled inside the box for the girl's request, he spoke. "See, we have this box here that Lynn, t-that's the women you probably talked to yesterday-actually, gonna guess you don't care..." He had found the book, a ruby red affair that was in slight tatters. "Alright, one musty old alchemy tome for devious experiments, Ms.-" He took a moment to look the ID over as he pulled upward once more, eyebrows raising as he took note of where it was from. "-Third Year Claremont Student Winifred Wei." He turned to the girl as he placed he book on the counter for her to look over. "W-well, Ms. Wei, it's your lucky day. As it clearly states right here on this Post-it Note taped to my register, right under the one about firemen, 'Claremont Students get 15% discounts on all purchases, do not forget this Leon/Lance, if you make an, curse word, of yourself I will frown even harder than normal -Gretchen.' " He cleared his throat awkwardly. "Gretchen is the uh, troll that lives at the coffee counter, annddd I'm just gonna check you out now if the book is to your liking?"
  12. It had not been a good April Fool's Day for Leon. He had suffered through his sisters each pranking him first thing in the morning, had been caught on the crossfire of them pranking each other, and had carpooled to work, only to discover that Lynn and Gretchen had worked out a fantastically well-choreographed routine in which it appeared that they had switched personalities. After begging Gretchen to please stop smiling like that, he had discovered that he was in fact the subject of one last prank, this being that Lance, on the one day in which they shared a time-slot, the one day in which many heavy boxes full to the brim with new books for sorting were left out behind the shop, had called in sick. He had bitterly planned his revenge as his toothpick muscles were forced to work harder than they had in months. Perhaps he would, surprise his sisters with a dog? No, no, they'd like that. Maybe he would get a moha-yeah, never-mind that. Oh, oh, maybe he wouldn't wipe his feat when he got back to the apartment! Oh yes, he was truly an evil genius. Now, revenge planned, he had stood behind the cashier counter at the bookstore half of the building, silently catching his breath. He was the only living soul in Silberman's, Gretchen and Lynn having had to leave for a bit for 'personal business.' The twilight of the day was approaching quickly, he was feeling just a bit tired, no one was going to ask him for coffee, and...the girl who had made a reservation for that alchemy book was here. Leon smiled behind the counter, his breath still not fully caught. "Y-yes, uh, you..." He leaned over the counter, face slightly red. "...Wanted that, Tinctures book, right?"
  13. Gallant gave his best smile and sent a small wave back toward the woman, before running hand through his messy hair. Internally, he felt a bit frustrated. The fear that had shot through him had briefly compromised his rational thought, and in turn had almost led to him compromising his relations. He moved towards a nearby crowd of civilians near a marble fountain, his eyes shifting back over to the woman once more. She didn't appear to be guarding the building, as tenants easily went in and out past her, and every few seconds her eyes would move to him once more. She was here for him, then. He tapped his against his scabbard as he weighed his options, this time glancing around the crowd. He had missed it initially, but it appeared there was another suited woman nearby. This one much bigger, and though she was currently at a bench feeding birds it was clear he was her sole interest. Across the road, sitting at a nearby coffee shop was yet another suit, this one a short male, his eyes again trained on him. 'Best to get it over with, I suppose...' He smiled and waved to each of his observers in turn as he sidled up beside the blonde woman. He stood, attempting as best he could to appear casual for several seconds before leaning over to her conspiratorially. "You and your friends seem quite taken with me. Were I a more nervous sort, I'm certain my cheeks would be radiant as the sun!" He chuckled softly, his eyes behind the mask sizing the woman and her well-crafted shield. "Care to inform me what I've done to catch your interest so?"
  14. Player Name: Droideka Character Name: King of Suits II Power Level: 10 (150/150PP) Trade-Offs: None Unspent Power Points: 0 In Brief: Dapper Legacy Costumed Adventurer, secretly young adult fanboy of the original exposed to Terminus Energy. Alternate Identity: Noel Chambers Identity: Secret Birthplace: Freedom City, New York Occupation: University Student\ Affiliations: House of Suits (European Superhero Alliance) Family: Morris Chambers (Father [Adopted]), Rebecca Chambers (Mother [Adopted]), Tyrone Chambers (Brother [Adopted]) Age: 19 (DoB: June, 1998) Apparent Age: Young Adult Gender: Male Ethnicity: Korean American Height: 6'2" Weight: 175 lbs. Eyes: Hazel / Green Hair: Brown / Black and Red Noel is almost always frowning, to various degrees, and always looks serious or in thought. His physique is often obscured by his clothing or lab gear, but it is in fact quiet nice, slick and decently muscled. His hair is chest-nut brown and neatly styled with parted bangs. His posture is generally good, though he will occasionally slouch, sometimes noticing and correcting himself and sometimes not. He dresses mostly in drab tones and wears low-key clothing. King of Suits II does in fact wear a suit, of sorts. Noel wears a long collared coat, white shirt, a scarf, gloves, long pants, a black utility belt, and black shoes. The coat, which covers the belt neatly, is split in half vertically, the left side being a shade of ruby red and the right black, with a spade and diamond symbol on either shoulder. The pants and gloves are likewise, though with opposite color scheming to the coat. On the left and right knees of the pants are a Heart and Club symbol, respectively. The scarf is red and black in a striped pattern. Noel's hair as the King of Suits is dyed red and black, and styled somewhat wild with long bangs, though one may not notice as a nice black and red bowler hat rests neatly on his head. On his face, Noel wears a black wrap-around domino mask, with green color contacts as a final layer of protecting his identity. The cane he carries with him is black and grey, with a red stopper and grip near the crook. History Noel never knew his parents, never truly knew where he was born. He was a doorstop baby left at a small local south-side orphanage, and he was always a bit bitter about it. Other kids had memories, even if they were sad, but all he had ever known was that orphanage and the local public school. He was a brat about it, his temper would fray quickly, and the other children quickly became sick of him. At first, it didn't bother him, and he threw himself into his studies instead, but the loneliness and isolation became more unbearable as he grew. He found friends, eventually, even if they were the wrong kind. Troublemakers and bullies, Noel laughed when they stole harmless things like cards, giggled when they made fun of the awkward kids. But over time, that spark of cruelty faded. He watched nervously as they stole money from the wallet of a volunteer worker, when they shoved around a nerdy girl, when one of the older boys proudly stated he would be joining one of the local gangs. He wasn't strong enough to stand up to them, not clever enough, better to just keep his head down. Noel dreaded that he would have to follow the example set that by that older boy internally, join a gang as the others did. A stroke of luck, seemed poised to save him, however. A nice African-american couple, wishing for another child but incapable of having another of their own. They seemed to set on him from the moment they first met. At nine years of age, he had a new family. It was awkward at first, but slowly, he got more and more used to them. He grew to love the hammers as much as suspected anyone could love a mother and father, and even tolerated the sometimes infuriating teasing of his new big brother. All was well for over five years. Noel, now a tall sixteen year old, had obviously drifted away from the gangs and the problem kids from the orphanage, though he never forget them. And sadly, it appeared they still remembered him in turn. They came quickly, one day after school, weapons in hand. He had no choice but to follow along, for one little job to a local testing lab. They shoved him into a weird zombie mobster costume in the back of an unmarked van, handed him an unloaded pistol, told him he was to say he was "The Revenant." He had to sneak in seemingly, but in truth draw attention away from the main group. If he did as they asked, they would be gone from the city, leave him be forever. He did as he was told, and it seemed to work. He prayed things would go smoothly, that they would get whatever it was they needed and leave him alone, even as his stomach turned at the thought, at the fear in the faces of the innocents in front of him. He heard the crash behind him, the window shattering. A cape, a dark skinned man in a strange red and black costume. He bantered nervously with him through his voice modulator, the two struggled for a bit, before finally, the mask fell off. The man, the "King of Suits", berated him for his cowardice, told him he needed to stand up for what was right, before moving deeper to catch the others. Against his better judgement, Noel followed after. At the edge of a lab marked private, he heard the telltale sounds of violence He moved in to the outskirts of the fight, pulling a nearby goon's weapon from their hand. The King of Suits didn't need his help, but he wanted to give it, to prove himself. As stray shot fired, though none but Noel noticed as it struck a nearby piece of tech. he mechanism seemed to whir and spark, at first softly, but growing more violent every second. The King of Suits was close to it, to close. It was about to blow. In a split second, Noel made a decision, dashing forward and shoving the man out of the way. He heard the boom behind him, saw and felt the black and red energy as it seeped around him, heard a mute shout, and closed his eyes as he surrendered to the dark. Horrible visions filled his unconscious mind, monsters, the void, the Terminus.... He opened his eyes slowly as the light filtered in. He was fatigued and bedridden in a local hospital, the Chambers, his new parents, sitting with him. The King of Suits had dropped him off at the orphanage, and a man named Marceau had found him, apparently, and had donated to his hospital bill. He spent most of that year recuperating, studying, getting to know his new family. He still had nightmares, though he could never recall what they were upon awakening, but he refused to let it bother him. He followed the media trail of the King of Suits, learned all he could about him. He wanted to be just like him, if he could be, a man dedicated to good, strong enough to fulfill those ideals. The Night of Two Kings was....hard for Noel, to say the least. He mourned in silence, over the course of the year. A year where he also discovered, in secret, that his exposure to that strange energy had changed him. He was stronger, faster, more dexterous, even a bit luckier, strangely. He trained these abilities slowly as he reached his nineteenth birthday, and came to a slow realization as he began his first year of university studies, living on his own. No matter the source of these abilities, he had a responsibility. He would take up the call that his hero had left behind, become like the man who had inspired him so, no matter how long it took... Personality & Motivation Noel overall is fiercely independent, possess a good heart, a strong work ethic, and an unyielding moral compass. He is firm in his beliefs and slow to change them. Normally Noel is quiet and subdued, toiling away at whatever work has caught his interest. He can be snarky however, even to the point of insufferability, and has something of a quick temper, emitting hostility when frustrated or upset. His views on the world and the government are somewhat cynical, though he will always give someone the benefit of the doubt. He holds a personal grudge against those who target innocents and twist them to suit their own needs. Overall, Noel projects an image of quiet intelligence and sternness, but when relaxed he can actually be quite silly, the kind of man who would sink money onto and build a grappling hook flare gun cane. King of Suits II is outwardly a charming gentleman, similar to the original in terms of levity. This is intentional on Noel's part, his way of honoring his hero's memory, but he is himself past it all. Still a bit of a spitfire, his jokes and snark, more prevalent than when he is himself, are limited to more gentlemanly prods unless he is feeling truly emotional. Powers & Tactics King of Suits II has been enhanced by Terminus Energy, which grants him increased physical capabilities on par with high scale Olympic athletes, as well as increased fortune, with battles having a tendency to go his way with at times almost otherworldly certainty. Noel is vaguely aware of the second and well aware of the first, and has built several devices using his knowledge of mechanics and chemicals to supplement them, along with a small amount of formal training. His cane is his main weapon, steel reinforced walking stick that is overall a versatile melee weapon. It is his main source of transportation thanks to it's built in grappling hook, and can also serve as an emergency flare gun, though it hold limited ammo. His secondary weapon is the Suits, metal black and red weapons shaped after the suits of playing card. The suits contain a variety of chemical mixtures, which are triggered upon impact, but also serve as basic throwing weapons. Noel's final pieces of equipment are basic, general use utility belt items, such as his gas mask. Complications Disarmed: Noel's Suits and Utility belt need to be removed completely to deprive him of his gadgets, but almost all of the items he uses are handheld, and can be disarmed as such. Enemy (Mob): King of Suits II has an especially poor relationship with the local crime families of Freedom City. Most theorize that he holds some grudge for the death of the original. They will never help Noel if he needs them, and the feeling is mostly mutual. Enemies: Any villains, super or not, who had a problem with the original King of Suits may find that they have been granted a second chance for revenge, no matter who is actually behind the mask. Legacy: Noel is the second King of Suits, and in truth did not know the original in any real capacity, not even truly aware of his Secret Identity. He hopes desperately to live up the original, though internally that is a seemingly almost insurmountable goal. Obligation (House of Suits): Noel is not actually a true member of the House of Suits, being an unsanctioned American borrowing his hero's identity. However, the House has opened up small-scale communication with him, and may call him in to solve problems threat the original was once expected to deal with. Responsibility (Homeless): The original King of Suits took the homeless, the vagrants, and the harmless weirdos under his protection until his untimely death. Following in his footsteps, Noel has decided to likewise offer his hand if they should ever need aid. Terminus Flashes: Noel's exposure to Terminus Energy, something he tries hard to keep under wraps, has actually affected him more than he knows. If he should ever encounter a large quantity of Terminus Energy, or still active Terminus Artifacts, he must make an immediate 10DC Will Roll or become exhausted, as visions of the Terminus that normally enter his dreams haunt his conscious mind. Struggling: Noel isn't likely to become one of his own homeless wards anytime soon, but he is an independent college student who has sunk a large chunk of money into his costume and home-made gadgets. 15. Gallant The Luck of The Fae Empire of Emerald and Jade
  16. Leon sighed as he slid into the somewhat uncomfortable swat of Ginny's car, cinnamon roll in hand. She was eating his brownie, and looked very displeased. "If you had just been patient, Ginny, this-" He waved the roll about the car, a small sprinkle of cinnamon falling onto his lap. "-would alll have been yours." He took a bite of the roll for emphasis. "This wasn't about the brownie Leon, this was about justice!" She began, as the car rolled out into the street. "Now that I have you trapped, you are going to tell me everything, and then we are going to go home, and you are going to tell Giselle everything, and then you are going to sit there and let us give you advice on how not to lose your soul to retail." Leon accepted his fate silently, taking one last glance at Silbermans and a nice long sip of his cooled coco. "Alright, so, first off, there was this barista lady, who looks exactly how you think she would-"
  17. Gallant looked about in confusion, once twice, three times as he moved slowly down the street. The people on the sidewalks, in the stores and restaurants, in cars passing by on the road, they all barely gave him a second glance. People who hadn't been there but five minutes ago, for you see, the entire block was abandoned. Most of those buildings were either condemned or near to it. The criminals he had chased, thieves of a low caliber, had chosen it as a location for their base for that exact reason. He had moved in, defeated them all swiftly, waited for the tell-tale sounds of sirens, but as soon as he moved to exit everything seemed to change around him. What strange magic must have been cast on him? He stopped at a crosswalk. A sudden flash of panic shot through him, a thought that sounded different than the ones that normally resided in his mind. His dear sisters, he needed to check on them. He picked up his pace, turning into a nearby alleyway and as much out of sight as he could get as he headed toward the apartments they lived in.
  18. Seemed like those two were pretty comfortable around each other. That was sweet. "That's absolutely fine by me, boss lady." Leon reached for the sheet, before remembering that his hands were full. He grinned sheepishly, waving said full hands lightly. "Well, normally I would just shove this brownie in my mouth before grabbing the sheet, but I'm pretty sure if I did that it would come back up pretty quick. N-not that it's bad or anything, just really rich. So, uh-" He glanced outside, noting that Ginny had just pulled up. "-I'm gonna go put these down in my sis's car real quick and then come back." Having said that, Leon made his way out. As soon as he was outside, he blitzed into Ginny's car and out of it before she could start talking, rushing back into the store. He reached out his hand for Lynn, somewhat out of breath.
  19. That entire exchange had been odd, Leon ruminated as he sipped the hot coco at a nearby table. Was it a test or something, was Gretchen just being nice, or what? She seemed, he took a glance at her once more, disinterested, in everything except that book she was reading. The rare kind of person who wouldn't seem to care even if they won the lottery. He hoped they would be able to get along if they were going to be co-workers. Picking up the brownie, Leon's phone buzzed once more, and he spared the message a glance as he bit into the brownie. 'Be there in 2 :3' Ginny really liked her emotes, didn't sh-oh god, oh god, that brownie was really rich. Coughing lightly, he took a sip of his coco to try and wash it down, only to realize his mistake a second later as he swallowed the massive lump of warm peppermint chocolate. He'd have to take that brownie sloowwww. He turned to Gretchen as he stood up and began moving toward the door. "This is, uh, pretty good, yeah. I'm gonna go wait in the parking lot for my ride. See you at work whenever my first shift is?"
  20. Gonna sign Gallant up. The words 'heroes' and 'needed' are all the incentive required. He's a very simple spirit font.
  21. Leon looked briefly at the menu, then back to the girl, (Gretchen, according to the tag pinned to her) then back to the menu. In his pocket he could feel his phone vibrating, no doubt Ginny trying to squeeze details out of him. She would have to wait until he was trapped in the car with her, hahahaaa-oh god tonight was gonna be a nightmare... He cleared his throat. "I'll have a pastry, I guess. Don't know if I want more caffeine in me, you have any Saint Patricks Day recommendations?"
  22. So it says. Looking for a thread or two for Gallant. Magic swordsman who only appears when his normal identity is unconscious, like a Were-Thor.
  23. Leon again moved out of his seat, grabbing Lynn's hand and shaking it in what he hoped was an appropriate handshake. His eyes shone and his small grin burst into a full fledged smile. "T-That's awesome! Any day is fine, and like I said I can do weird times. I can't pull all-nighters though..." He pulled his hand away and moved to the door. "Sorry about being so jumpy and all. First interview, lot of caffeine. I'll get used to you guys soon, and you'll get as sick of me as my sisters are." He opened the door, pulling out his phone. "Hey, 'm gonna, stand around and browse for a bit, okay? It's gonna take a sec for my sister to bring her car around." He texted a quick 'Got job, come pick me up' and moved outside. He gave a quick wave to counter girl before putting the phone back in his pocket and making his way to a nearby display.
